Balalayka?

I grew up around people from the Ozarks and Appalachians so I have a preference for acoustic stringed instruments. Never heard a Balalayka until I was an adult, but really like the sounds of it, very similar to a mandolin. Really, I would have a hard time saying whether I liked the sounds of a guitar, dobro guitar, mandolin, fiddle, or banjo best. For those of you that like music, here is a young man that plays all of them very well, doing an old gospel tune. He plays all genres well, but this tune is one that my father and Uncle John sang together, so it is special to me.

I love many like violin, saxophone and guitar, but I particularly love piano.

Tenor sax, guitar, piano.

I also like Alto sax, but only as it was played by Charlie Parker.

There is another intrument that I love, it's called vibraphone.

Here is an example of it, played by Lionel Hampton (1908 – 2002), who brilliantly performed as a bandleader, a drummer and, most importantly, as a vibraphone virtuoso.

French horn and piano. I am only good at the latter, though.

No question about it, the Piano provides the greatest opportunity for all sorts of musical expression. Make it the electric piano, and there is nothing even close.
