You were lied to in school

There were and are a number of types of socialism, Marx named his socialism "Scientific Socialism". The Russians dropped it a few years after the revolution. Then with Stalin they dropped communism.

Hitler and the Nazis were the good guys, the Soviet Union was evil. The Soviet Union won, and only then did we recognize them as a threat, and we dedicated the Cold War to fighting them.

But if we supported the Nazis, they very well might have stopped the Soviet Union.

I don't believe in good and evil personally, so I don't see the Soviet Union as any more evil than any other country that has exerted its will on others, despite my not agreeing with them at all. All things considered I think a German victory in WW2 would have been more beneficial to the world in the long run, so I agree for the most part. If you think the Third Reich was out to conquer the world and could actually hold on to all of its territories from France to the Urals through military occupation and continue expansion you're sorely overestimating the limits of its military industrial complex. It might have made a big enough impact to shut down the blossoming foothold of globalism and international banking that's thrown us into this economic fever dream we live in today. The rebirth of nationalism and independent nations might have curtailed the limpwristed self-hate currently going on in Europe and even the United States.

Of course there would be downsides, particularly on the subject of casualties. Yet I doubt they could have ever defeated Communism in pure numbers of people slaughtered and lives ruined.

Precisely. And there are many other variations ... the best being Social-Democracy which accounts for all of the top Democracies in the world today.

All history proves is that Socialism is evil. Both the USSR and Germany where socialist countries.
Wrong. Absolutely wrong.
I am very much correct comrade.
I am not going to bore you with the definition of Socialism. I will tell you that Stalin was the leader of a nation called the Soviet Socialist Republic. However, he turned it into a Fascist state exactly as Hitler had done. Hitler himself said he hated Socialism. He knew he was a Fascist as did Mussolini. That was their purpose. Stalin however, never admitted he was a Fascist and continued thinking of himself as a Socialist .... he wasn't. Hitler and Mussolini created Fascism by design. There is no discussion on that point. They were not Socialists. Stalin, on the other hand, corrupted Socialism by setting himself up as Fascist without calling it that. In the final analysis neither Hitler nor Stalin were Socialist. They were both Fascists.
Poor Poor stupid regressive.... Fascism is socialism. Hell the word itself was coined by a socialist because fascism is from the Latin meaning bundle of sticks as in stronger together then apart... It is amazing how ill informed you regressives are.
