And I don't deny someone calling me a liberal socialist commie marxist anymore because it's all people like you do on this board. Call someone who disagrees with your worldview a liberal so that you can dismiss them as somehow less relevant than you are. :

Please provide some proof of where that is done on a regular basis, or STFU. We usually use the term the way it is meant to, to articulate the "BASIC" political views of a person. Why do libs hate being called libs?

And the reason why us liberal lockstep youths

hahah, I just dont get it??? You are claiming you arent a liberal, then in VIRTUALY THE SAME BREATH, you admit to being a liberal????

who you seem to have such disdain for don't listen to AM radio much is because it's BORING. Unless you're on a long car trip or need something to drown out the silence at work (and even then, it wears on you) us pinko whipper snappers don't have the patience to listen to AM radio. It's archaic. I know I know, somehow that makes me a socialist.

THen why arent any of you liberals, who really arent liberals, listening to liberal talk radio, which isnt really liberal, since it calls itself progressive.???

AM Talk Radio is garbage. It's for people who are too lazy to read the news and prefer to have their opinions on world events dictated to them by Rush Limbaugh or Al Franken.

Read any thread on this forum! Oh that's right I forgot, you're too lazy to read. :funnyface

Oh yes, absolutelly, talk radio is limited to Rush and AL.

And to read the opinion of one person on an issue in the paper is MUCH MORE ENLIGHTENING than listening to two people on opposite sides of an issue discuss it in an intelligent and enlightening way, (often provided on right wing radio, but NEVER on ERR America)

or to hear opinions and ideas expressed by the general public

(there comes that elitist attitude again -notice how it always surfaces when you get liberals talking so much hmmm, maybe thats why they dont like "talk radio"- yea, elitist, better to read the pominent NY TIMES than to llisten to the general public)

Oh, so since you didnt provide any quotes, maybe its YOU who is too lazy to read.

Me thinks you should get a two hour slot on ERR America, you would fit right in.

What a joke, conservative talk radio provides much more range of views than Err America.

THE reason talk radio is so succesful, is unlike any other medium, they have to be more directly responsive to their listeners. Radio is more controlled by the listeners than the customers of any other medium. Do you realize how often I find the LA Times on top of the rack, MINUS the sports section. Millions buy the paper SOLELY for the sports section, yet they would include those millions in their subscription base when considering their overall readership.

Pardon me?!? Have you READ any of my posts.

I don't disagree with you, there are several reasons Conservative radio is more successful. I was pointing out ONE reason, and I think it is an accurate one. If you consider that Conservatives listen to Conservative radio, and a large portion of Liberals are listening to Conservative radio, even if it is for different reasons, obviously the ratings are going to be much higher. Whenever I have come across a more Liberal thinking radio show, I have rarely heard a Conservative call in to the show. I hear Liberals call in to Conservative shows all the time.

Mmmm...no. I would say, for the most part, it's for people who don't want to have a wreck while trying to read the newspaper while they drive.

It has been my experience that when the show is Conservative you hear more conservatives, when the show is Liberal you hear more liberals calling. It often is because of how callers are treated. Conservative shows, the ones that that I listen to at least, do not excoriate, shout down, and silence most of the liberal callers that I hear call them while the Liberal hosts do all of the above. They seem to lack an understanding of a listening base and will insult those who would listen to hear a differing view. This idea that they are out there to teach cons a thing or two is simply a myth with little evidence to back it up, they are out there to attract and preach to the choir.

I don't have to prove anything to you, so stop acting like such a tinhorn. You wanna call me a liberal, go ahead. I used to argue that I wasn't, but it doesn't matter on this board. Views of dissent must be liberal views, regardless of the rest of my political spectrum. Some people here are capable of holding intelligent debates over issues. Others need to call someone a liberal commie every other word to somehow strengthen their argument in their own mind. If you have such a fantastic intellect to display, why waste it? It makes you look like you don't think you have anything smart to say, so instead you just drop the word liberal in there every 11 words to compensate.
"I'd explain it to you, but you're a liberal"
"I don't expect you to understand; you're a liberal"
"This would make sense, but you're a liberal"
It's predictable and boring and does nothing to advance the debate. But go ahead, call me an elitist now. It'll make you feel better.

It was sarcasm. I know it's easier for you to look at what I say in a vaccuum, but try reading things in the context they were intended. Do you really think I would call myself a liberal lockstep youth? Wake up.

BECAUSE TALK RADIO IS BORING. Do you intentionally miss the entire point of posts, or is it a developed talent? Since we're calling everyone a liberal now, you argue and post like a liberal.

That's true. sometimes it depends on the host. However, I have found that the Conservative hosts that do shout down or cut off Liberal callers, like a Michael Savage type, are the ones that get the most Liberals calling in to the show. I think it is the frame of mind you mention, the kind that they think they must get America straight and not let this insane person go unchecked. From what I have heard from most Liberals that call into Conservative talk, no matter the host, as long as they can regurgitate what they got from X website or from X book, they do fine. It's when they are backed into a corner and actually have to form an opinion that they come out looking bad.

Call someone who disagrees with your worldview a liberal so that you can dismiss them as somehow less relevant than you are. I'm not a liberal. I don't agree with much that comes out of the mouths of liberals like Howard Dean and the like. The democratic party is a complete mess lacking any leadership, issues, or relevancy.

I'm curious, why do you find talk radio boring? How much have you actually listened to it? And who?

If you don't listen to talk radio at all, where do you get your political information? The liberal news media? Liberal or conservative web sites? TV news? Are you getting information from both sides or mainly left-orientated sources?

If you are not a liberal and hate being called one, could you please define yourself politically?

I watch mostly Fox News, probably split my time between CNN, Fox, and Drudge for the web, and rarely listen to talk radio unless I'm on long car trips. I don't think I've ever listened to a liberal radio show once, although perhaps once or twice when I was coming back to Ann Arbor from Chicago. There's some guy that does a lib show out of AA. This is the only forum that I belong to, which is a conservative forum.

I rarely watch local news as, for the most part, DC and Baltimore news is sub-par. In Detroit, NBC seemed to have the best local news.

I'm not sure how you want me to define myself, I could answer a check list of beliefs if you wanted, I suppose, but maybe it's better to do that in PM if you so care. I currently think the Democratic party is out of touch and full of people who whine entirely too much. I get the feeling that they think the American public should shift it's views to please the party when in reality it should be the other way around.

As a result of such a weak opposition, I think the Republican party has gotten lazy and overly self-congratulatory.

Politics in general these days are highly disingenuous anyhow, so I don't really expect anything special out of the government anytime soon.

I don't know if this was what you had in mind, if you really are interested PM me and you can ask me whatever you want.

I know how we can tell. Do you believe in general america has done more good things or more bad things in the world? Just checking to see if you've developed the illogical hate of one's native culture which characterizes the American Left. Hint: If you say you don't believe in any sort of absolute good or evil, then we also have our answer.

Easily more good things. Can I wash the label off now?
