You're premise in incorrect. The US going green would have enormous effect. Nonetheless, China and India are not just leaving us in the dust technologically and financially, they are indeed as environmentally irresponsible as we are.

No matter the extent to which that is true, its no reason or excuse for the US to continue trashing the planet.

co2 is used in industry, I would bet you that CO2 is used in the manufacture of Solar Cells.

so what to do with CO2 is not in question, we could plant more plants instead of burning fuel to make the world's largest windmill which will not produce the energy to manufacture tomorrow's windmill, needed to replace today's which will soon break.

solar creates more co2, you have to construct the worlds largest structures covering the largest amount of land, instead of acres we must speak in square miles, that is a lot of raw material, silica which needs to be melted with natural gas, blanketed with co2, to be turned into photoactive solar cells.

You can not build solar or wind without Fossil Fuels.

Solar and Wind manufacturing requires the use of fossil fuel.

Fossil fuel builds all things, to include Solar and Wind.

On a nice sunny, windy day, solar and wind can supply homes (while your working), nothing more. Solar and Wind admittingly state they can not supply power to the Heavy Industry that manufactures the components that make up "renewable energy".

The day we run out of Oil there will be no Oil to lubricate a Wind Turbine let alone build another.

The day we run out of Oil is the day we will not be able to pump water to simply clean a Solar Panel.

Solar and Wind Power require us to use more Oil, not less, why do you think Chevron and Exxon and all the Oil Companies support it?

wind and solar are massively inefficient. and are the opposite of 'on demand'. until we have developed alternative technologies that supply portable and 'on demand' power from renewables, we are stuck with fossil fuels.
