To go to war with China would only be to further extend what a few neo-cons and globalists believe they should get more Americans to fight for outside of our own national interests.

Do you really think we could win such a war? The most we could achieve would be a stalemate and only them if we were willing to us nukes. I am not even sure we could defeat Russia. We have the best soldiers in the world, but we don’t have enough them. And on top that there is hold segments of the population we can’t depend on to fight for the country. Actually we did go to (a shooting) war with China about 65 years ago and it was a blood bath on both sides that ended up with a "truce" that we are still living with today. MacArthur had the Korean war wrapped up in the 1st year with the capture of the NK capital of Pongyang. The Chinese warned the US not to approach the Yalu river or risk Chinese incursion. MacArthur convinced Truman that the risk was insignificant and we turned victory into defeat lite at the cost of 50,000 Americans in three years. MacArthur later made wild threats to nuke China and he was finally relieved of duty. Bill Clinton disregarded intelligence community warnings but decided to sell ICBM technology to China which advanced them 20 years and made Clinton a ton of money from Loral. The pitiful mess of the Obama administration decided to indict a couple of Chinese military leaders for hacking American technology that Obama probably already sold.

Taiwan is 90 miles away and China is incapable of invading it. What makes you think they could invade the US 6000 miles away?

That's why Russia is going to help them. Wait and see. The Chinese don't have to travel 6000 miles to get here. They are already here. All their military equipment is down in Mexico for years now. So are their troops. Training with Cubans and Nicaraugans according to the locals.

Google it. There have been sighting of Chinese troops in Mexico for years now. The local fisherman have seen them training on the beaches down there. What do you think they are training for? An invasion of South America? Wake up, RW.

I'm not sure how much of an exchange would occur. We have 7,650 warheads ..they have 240.

Most of theirs would be destroyed before they get here. Ya.. we would sustain a few million casulties .. they would be annialated. It depends on if Russia got involved on their side in which case the whole planet would be cooked.

In any case if China attacked us the question would be mute as we would be forced to go all out. There is no way we would just let China kick our butts in any kind of a war.

The primary, if not the only, reason for the standoff is the claim to the South China Sea. China wants to claim all of it. There are something like 7 countries who each claim parts, many overlapping. The U.S. is allied with the 7 other countries and China is China. There are all kind of dynamics between who wants to do what and who they would like to do it with. How serious is it going to get? The armed Chinese in South America are part of the drug trade. They have nothing to do with a national military presence.
