That's what happens when you send half trained cannon 
fodder out to soak up Ukrainian munitions....Remember even the tankers are badly trained. Probably freaked out with the explosions, didn't keep track of their comrades in the confusion, and decided they were being attacked by tanks instead of hitting mines.
