Would the death penalty be okay here?

What does Fiscal Conservative have to do with the Death Penalty?

It'd cost less to kill the asswipe who fucking did this, how in anybody's mind even dare to sexually assault and kill a 7 month girl?

It's disgusting.. this man should be Punished to the maximum extent.

What are you babbling on about now?

We're talking about some Sick scumbag raping a 7 month girl, does that not matter in this thread?

Then go right ahead and prove me this guy isn't Guilty? How did the Girl die? and all those Fractures in her body?

What's up with people like using everything you can find as a political gain?

bgfrn seems more concerned with attacking those with an opposing view then discussing the thread.

IF this guy is found guilty, then death is the appropriate penalty, because life doesn't always mean life and this guy doesn't need to be out in the population again, EVER.

Political gain? You really ARE a fucking pea brain. WHAT I am 'babbling' about is WHAT separates us from totalitarian regimes like Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union and China.

You know, the one you pea brains 'claim' are leftist.

The presumption of innocence (the principle that one is considered innocent until proven guilty) is a legal right of the accused in a criminal trial, recognised in many nations. The burden of proof is thus on the prosecution, which has to collect and present enough compelling evidence to convince the trier of fact, who is restrained and ordered by law to consider only actual evidence and testimony that is legally admissible, and in most cases lawfully obtained, that the accused is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. In case of remaining doubts, the accused is to be acquitted.

Read the 5th, 6th, and 14th amendments, or better yet, have mommy read and explain them to you.

It is more dangerous that even a guilty person should be punished without the forms of law than that he should escape.

Shut up. We are not on the jury. We are commenting on the story as written, which points to the guy's guilt. If you don't like people opining on crime stories, I suggest you stay off the fucking internet.

From the NJ Dept. of Corrections:

How many "lifers" are incarcerated in New Jersey Department of Corrections facilities?

A: As of January 2010, 1,231 offenders are serving life sentences; of these, 60 are serving life without parole.

Frequently Asked Questions

60? A life sentence is not really a life sentence. Especially when the money runs out.

NEWARK — Authorities in Essex County arrested a Newark man Thursday night accused of sexually assaulting and murdering a 7-month-old baby girl.

Blake is accused of assaulting and killing Dalaysia Rhymer, the 7-month-old daughter of a woman he had dated.

Blake was alone with the baby after her grandmother left to go to the hospital unexpectedly with back pain. The baby’s 21-year-old mother, who was planning to attend an event in Manhattan for Gay Pride Week, instead spent the day at a female friend’s home in Newark, authorities said.

...the infant was taken to University Hospital in Newark with a fractured skull, ruptured spleen, broken ribs, bruising to the spine and a lacerated liver.

Blake’s criminal record includes a dozen arrests for drug and weapons charges, authorities said. He was recently released from jail, the prosecutor’s office said.

What is wrong here? Let me count the ways...

Supporting or opposing the death penalty should have nothing to do with how heinous an individual crime is. Rather the position should be made with consideration towards society as a whole and whether people feel it's proper and just for the state to take life.

Yes, because DNA evidence and investigative techniques haven't evolved since 1973. Sorry but in 2010 USA if you're found guilty of murder, you are guilty.

It makes me wonder how many innocent men and women have been executed at the hands of the state in the name of "justice".

You are guilty....but could then be exonerated pending new evidence.

None in NJ.

Deadline: State By State Death Penalty Information: New Jersey

Was anyone on Death Row ever found innocent in my state?
To date, no prisoner on Death Row has been found to be innocent in New Jersey.

Also, the death penalty in NJ was overturned in 2007, and before that it had not been used since '63.

So yeah...there weren't any found innocent. But there were a whole bunch that got busted down from death penalty down to a lower punishment.

Corzine commuted the death sentence for this fine fella.

Murder of Seven Year Old Megan Kanka

Timmendequas lived with two other convicted sex offenders across the street from his victim. He lured the girl into his house by offering to show her a puppy. After raping her, he slammed her head onto a dresser, put two plastic bags over her head, and strangled her to death with a belt. He moved her body to his truck, assaulting her once again before placing the body in a wooden toy chest and dumping it in nearby Mercer County Park. The next day, he confessed to investigators and led police to the site. Evidence including bloodstains, hair, and fiber samples, as well as a bite mark matching Megan Kanka's teeth on Timmendequas' hand, led to Timmendequas being found guilty of kidnapping, four counts of aggravated sexual assault, and two counts of felony murder — committing murder in the course of a felony.[2]

Timmendequas remained on New Jersey's Death Row until December 17, 2007, when the New Jersey Legislature abolished the state's death penalty. This ban resulted in Timmendequas's sentence being commuted to life in prison without parole.[5][6]

As of 2010 Timmendequas is incarcerated at New Jersey State Prison in Trenton.

The Kankas pleaded with the governor to no avail. Maybe he thought the guy might be innocent. :(
