Would "71% of Americans support $10.22 minimum wage if it cost jobs & raised prices?

First I tried to find out how many Democrats versus GOP made up this poll but Gallup didn't release that data.. wonder why?

A) There are less then 1.7 million earned exactly the prevailing Federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour.

And among those 1.7 million Among employed teenagers paid by the hour, about 23 percent earned the minimum wage or less,
compared with about 3 percent of workers age 25 and over.
3% supposedly breadwinners with families over age 25!

B) Now who do you suppose will be let go when the local fast food place that pays $8.00 an hour already MUST pay EVERYONE $9.00?
The fast food owner WILL NOT lower his profits but will DEFINITELY not hire any more AND most likely let some go.
And the reason is pure economics!

Most Democrats and Americans do NOT KNOW that the employer pays more then the employee's share in SS/Medicare taxes!
Yes for those of you totally ignorant every employer pays 6.2% for SS 1.45% for Medicare and 6% for FUTA..

SO know do you think the employer who will pay on top of the minimum wage of $9.00 another 13.5% or $1.22 Making total cost $10.22 NOT $9.00!
If he has 20 employees at current cost of $7.25 Plus 13.5% or $8.23 working 40 hours a week his payroll is $6,591 per week.
But with minimum wage of $10.22 ($9.00+ $1.22 remember FICA/FUTA..) it will cost him $8,182 a week or $1,591 more a WEEK!
Over a year that is $82,773 MORE.
Where will he get this MORE???
A) Letting go of some younger employees
B) Raising his prices
or a combination... BUT nothing will come from the owner pocket for sure! And why should it?
He is giving untrained, young people jobs that they are unqualified for other then fast food workers.. TODAY!

What fast food employer would pay someone $7.25 per hour or any wage if they didn't absolutely need that person for the business to operate? It's nonsense to claim an employer will not hire someone necessary to do business if the wages are raised. If you don't do business, you don't make money for the business. Why would anyone in business pay someone $290 per week for 40 hours of work that wasn't making him more than $290 per week? What makes idiots like you believe a business can function without the workers?

They Don't pay $7.25 an hour! They pay $8.23 cause you keep forgetting employers pay 13% in FICA/Futa so when it goes to $9.00 it is really $10.22!

When I was in college my Uncle had a fast food and I was paid $1.15/hour and we sold 5 cent hamburgers in 1961!
So he had to raise prices as costs of labor/supplies rise.
And I've responded as any one who understands business I raise the prices.

It's surprising that ONLY 71% of the people would support a raise in minimum wages even if it raised prices because people never think they will pay the rise in prices. If they finally understand that they are paying more for less, they are quickly convinced that the increase isn't at all due to the rise in wages but something else. Greedy rich people for one.

Jobs are going away anyway because of Obamacare. I do think there are fewer fast food employees these days. There are several registers and the counter and it seems like less workers taking orders even when the place is busy.

Employers don't pay with their employees money, fool! Employers pay 7.65% and so do employees.

So what if someone has to pay the full price for his hamburger, instead of giving the person benefits from social programs?

If you claim you know so much about the fast food business, what is the total percentage increase in the cost of doing business for an increase of minimum wage to $9.00 and how much would that add to the burger?

While you are at it, why don't you explain how a business can afford to not hire someone absolutely needed to run the business? Are they going to stop making fries or using a cash register?
