According to who? I've been to Vancover, pretty but the food is expensive. Been to Munich as well, wasn't impressed that much (nice architecture) but on the whole I like Phoenix.

assuming anyone would want to live in a city. personally I'll take the wide open spaces and the mountains where population density approaches single digits per square mile over any over crowded city

Best city to live if you're a well paid corporate tool, perhaps.
