"A Texas woman offered $500,000 to another woman at a Walmart in exchange for her child while standing in line at self-checkout last week, according to police. The Messenger reported Rebecca Lanette Taylor, a 49-year-old woman from Crockett, was charged with the sale and purchase of a child. The Crockett Police Department indicated an officer was on patrolwhen she received a phone call from the mother of the child, saying "a woman approached her in the Crockett Walmart, two hours north of Houston, wanting to purchase her son."

According to an arrest affidavit, the mother had a baby in a car seat and her 1-year-old in a cart. Taylor "began commenting on her son's blonde hair and blue eyes." She then asked how much she could purchase him for. The mother told her no amount of money would do, according authorities. Once outside in the parking lot, Taylor confronted the mother again and asked to buy the baby.
"Taylor began screaming at the mom, saying if she wouldn't take $250,000 for him, then she would give her $500,000 because she wanted him and she was going to take him," police records obtained by KETK-TV said.

Obviously this woman was mentally ill and I am sure there was a better way for this to be handled than to call the cops on this poor woman...Now instead, she is facing up to 10 yrs in prison and being held on 50K bond -- all because of her mental illness?? Compassion would have been much more needed in this situation, not punishment...

However, who is to say that what the mother of the 1 yr old said is true.....what was interesting about this story is that Ms Taylor called this child by his real name....

"In a bizarre turn of events, Rebecca Lanette Taylor began to call the child by his real name when the mother asked her to “back away” from her son. The latter confirmed that she had never met the woman before and did not understand how she knew her son’s name."

That's pretty strange.....how did she know the child's name?? Are we sure the two don't know each other??? But there is more...

Shortly after, Taylor left the venue with her companion. Crockett Police Department Lieutenant Ahleea Price visited Rebecca Lanette Taylor’s residence but she refused to communicate or co-operate with the officer. Price reported:
“She told me that she doesn’t like thieves, then she stated I could speak with her attorney and to get off her ‘precipice.’ She slammed the door shut.”

Very strange story but I highly doubt the child was in any real serious danger....thoughts and prayers for Ms Taylor, hope she gets the help she needs...

Why didn't one of you lefties help her? You all are constantly blabbing about compassion, why don't you ever show any? Why are there so many of these people walking our streets? SMH

Well that's the issue.

No alcohol or babies through the self-checkout...
