with Obamacare gone, what should Trumpcare look like? give your solution to health care

The GOP controls the Senate and the Presidency. Takes both the House AND Senate to pass legislation. Might want to ponder that.

I didn’t say anything about ‘passing’ legislation.

Dems in the House will force votes where Republicans will have to vote against things like saving pre-existing conditions requirements by health care insurers.

Many Republicans have been lying to their constituents that they will protect pre-existing conditions and now they will have to vote against patient protections or vote with the Democrats.

That will set up a complicated situation for Republicans in the Senate.

I think Democrats and Republicans will vote together on a good bill.

Well I always thought that it would be great if we all paid into the government (a tax) that insures that we all get a health care card that can be used anywhere in the U.S. where it is needed. Pre-existing conditions are covered, and eye and dental are added instead of being seperate from the health card that is being issued.

Not sure what it would be called, but it could be worked out to include everyone to be covered by working out the tax to be spread out among all the working tax payers in the nation by a deduction to be levied or taken out of their paychecks each week.

Otherwise for example, if the tax was to cost the tax paying citizen $ 7.00 dollars a paycheck, then to add those who are struggling and needy by no fault of their own would be an additional $ 1.50 a week to be added as a "my brothers keeper ID"
in the amount as it would be listed.

The total deduction would be for example $8.50 a week for health care coverage for every working American citizen in the country to be covered along with the struggling Americans by no fault of their own being covered as well. Be nice to have a government health care card to just walk into a medical facility or practice with confidence that everything will be ok. Would allow the patient to focus on healing instead of worrying about finances etc.

You just proposed socialist universal health care. What you're talking about is universal single-payer, government funded health care. Which no card carrying conservative will support.

"Government funded". That means paid for by taxpayers.

Come on, guys! Don't rain on their parade. Over 100 million American citizens are going to lose their health care, and this is cause for a serious celebration for the Right!

Wrong....and it depends on the source

6-10mil
6-10 million people could lose their health insurance under GOP's Obamacare-replacement plan

22-32mil
32 million people would lose coverage if Obamacare was repealed

Either way...…..don't forget the many of those people now have or are getting jobs that will provide benefits thru employers
Why should employers be the ones responsible for supplying healthcare plans for Americans ??? This shouldn't be the case at all in America.

Worked for a company that because of it's very business it is in, there was a higher incidence of health issues caused by the industry worked for. Because of this the private insurance carrier charged this particular industry higher rates to it's employees for the healthcare plans offered way cheaper to other industries not subjected to the same conditions.

Ok, so the money being paid to the employee's are the same amount as other industries or among industry standards, yet because of the nature of this business the healthcare plans were way higher if work in this industry verses another ? It's not right, and it wasn't right.

Most employers already provide medical/dental/vision, benefits for employees and have been doing so for many years. Benefits are a great carrot to draw and keep good employees.

I have been thinking about this today and may have come up with something, but it would require those who can work to get a job and have a yearly
checkup...…..Health Savings Accounts. You deposit say 10% of income & employers match it? It's for any & all medical care until your death. No need for Medicare at retirement. Employers would save a lot of money with this than paying the price for medical/dental/vision/etc benefits they provide. Upon your death, any remaining funds goes for your immediate family's HSA. You would have the choices of what type of care you wanted......standard medical care, homeopathic, nutritionalist, chiropractic, herbalist, acupuncture, etc

Medical costs should drop for lack of paper shuffling for insurances and there wouldn't be any unnecessary tests, procedures, RX's, appts, etc. Doctors would treat whatever problem you have instead of treating the symptoms and referring you to someone else, unless it's needed.

There are some drawbacks of course...….

It wouldn't work as well if you are unhealthy(disease/illness) or in an accident or serious injury when you're young & just starting to pay in, unless you have a close relative that recently passed away leaving you their unused account.

And if put into place in the next few years...….it's not going to work for older Americans.

And there would have to be enough jobs to employ everyone.

IDK I'm sure there are other pros & cons to the idea, but it could work
Good post, and it actually describes the delema of pre-existing conditions that also causes trouble for the entire healthcare debacle. As you say the system will begin to fix itself as people get healthier, and employment reaches much higher levels.

Great ideas yes, and they will eventually work, but at this time the net needs to also include those with pre-existing conditions.

Maybe we can do both as it works to repair itself ?? Don't see why we can't. The government could take over pre-existing conditions, while the private sector implements the HSA/Healthcare plans for healthy workers.

One of the biggest problems with it would be those who are prone to health problems that would use more than what's in their accounts &/or those making less or single parents with kids that would use it more.

There's also the issue of those that pass with excess in their accounts and either their families have their own accounts or have no family at all and have no will to determine heir...……….those could go into a 'medical fund' that could help to pay for those that don't have enough. Then again the question would be who would be in charge of that fund......and it would be vulnerable to abuse.

I think Democrats and Republicans will vote together on a good bill.

Yes, it will likely be Single Payer now that a majority of Republicans say that is what they want.

Won’t that be a hoot to watch the right wing hater fringe go berserk.

Who cares what so called conservatives support. Less than half of all Republicans are not going to decide against what most in the country want:

Majority of Republicans supports 'Medicare for all,' poll finds

The majority of Republicans support Medicare for All. In other words they want Obamacare replaced with SINGLE PAYER.

The ACA will be revered as the great bridge to single payer health care.

And all you card carrying conservatives go down the Sarah Palin bridge to Nowhere.

Obamacare was deeply flawed and Obama and Democrats lied. They didn't tell us that people would lose their tax refund if they didn't buy Obamacare. They lied about the premiums. They lied about not losing their doctor. They lied about it not being a tax, then the Supreme Court said it was a tax. You proud of that?

The government must play a role, there isn't no way around it, just like it does now. We just have to get it right on what roles each will play, and that it works for all American's in the most Godly way possible.

here's my plan: everyone's gotta be covered, this is an unconservative thing for me to say. a lot of times they say no no the lower 25 percent that cant afford private, but i would cover everyone, i dont care if it tanks my popularity on here, the government pays for it, but we save so much money on the other side. for the most part, its a private plan, but people go out and negotiate private plans with lots of competitors and they can have their doctors they can have their plans they can have everything
My solution? Government stay out of it all.

Hmmm, sounds like the conservatives will go down as hero's if they get this one right, so look for it.

Republicans don’t want to help other Americans. I don’t know why. It’s just the inner meanness. The lack of true traditional Christian values.
Is it really relegated to just republicans ??? No it isn't, but keep true to your agenda to suggest that all republicans are evil and bad, when Americans know that this is a dumb position to hold when people are affected negatively across all areas upon the board.

No, all republican's aren't bad and the way my texts are blowing up this morning from my republican clients worried they're going to lose their subsidy and health insurance for 2019 just shows all republican's are very happy with it.
Very happy with what ??

Very happy with their subsidies and obamacare.
Obamacare was a ruse period. It was only designed to help those in poverty, but royally screwed over the working people in the middle. Good riddance Obamacare.

It's not gone.

This country has many more small business and do not offer group health coverage.

I suggest you google HSA's and HRA's.

Where do you get the idea government is supposed to help you? Are you of sound mind and body and able to work for a living?
Why have any government at all if they’re not supposed to help Americans? That’s like one of the most retarded things I’ve ever read since I’ve been on the USMB.

BS is right......government isn't there to help you...…...they are there to GOVERN you AKA collect taxes, make laws for you to abide and lock you up when you don't
What do they collect the taxes for ??? To help Americans across the board right ?? There will never be a perfect union, so government has always been instrumental and set up to keep balance in the country. It is only expected however to do so with a very thin line allowed it, and this is so that it doesn't cross lines that infringe on the rights granted to the citizenry in an abusive way. Fine lines to keep, and that's why we have checks and balances on power in America.
Republicans don’t want to help other Americans. I don’t know why. It’s just the inner meanness. The lack of true traditional Christian values.

If you follow evil pretending, you’re not evil is not going to mean anything. If you vote for evil then yes U2 are evil. And Donald Trump is evil. He’s truly the worst president this country has ever had by miles. They even have to invent new terms for him. Four Pinocchios doesn’t work anymore.
