the committee, chaired by Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman (I-Conn.), was still deciding whether to pursue the subpoenas in court.

Congress wanted info on the Ft. Hood shooting. The DOJ said "no, we're prosecuting the crimes, and we cannot release it without hindering the prosecution." Congress could have gone to a court and asked for a subpoena. The court then has to decide whether the DOJ's executive and prosecutorial duties give them the power to not do what congress wants.

Any subpoena from Mueller would be issued through a court. Team Trump apparently thinks it can convince a court that Trump doesn't have to answer. Nixon and Clinton said they didn't have to comply. It didn't work for them. We'll see.

If Mueller and Trump go here, eventually the Supreme Court will weigh in. And that will be a constitutional crisis. Obamacare just involved a law and a tax. Different animal here

His Team leaks areas Mueller wants to question him on, and as many as twenty involve contacts with Russia during the campaign, and Trump declares the investigation doesn't center on "collusion," but is about obstruction and there can't be an investigation without a crime. The goal is to delegitimize the DOJ. And Rosenstein isn't having it. Fox and the Republicans overwhelmingly say the investigation is going nowhere, but a sold maj of all voters want to see it play out. Trump's team is telling him he's "winning" on Mueller. Firing Mueller and Rosenstein is not going to win votes. Trump's on a roll with Korea, even though he's been helpful by showing the US is NOT helpful, and Macron pretty much bitch slapped him over Iran, the WH was caught factually misstating the nuclear deal.

Mueller has already called people from Trump's administration and his campaign. The subpoena's we are talking about are for Trump himself. Obama was not subpoenaed. The Pentagon and Justice Department are NOT Barack Obama himself.
