In my opinion the French were more likely candidates to take antisemitism to a murderous level than Germans before WW2. But Hitler, who was Austrian, picked Germany to implement his insanity and the rest is history. Read about the collaboration of the French Vichy government. I'm saying the Holocaust would not have happened without Hitler as the driving force behind it. The French or Brits didn't have a man like Hitler to contaminate their minds with irrational hate. The economic conditions in Germany at the time made Germany easy pickings for a lunatic to exploit.
Nazism is the German form of fascism. Mussolini defined what fascism meant to him as a merger of state and corporatism with an authoritarian leader.

Seeing how Austria is 80.8% Austrian, 2.6% German, 1.6% Bosnian and Herzegovinian, 1.8% Turkish, 1.6% Serbian and 1.3% Romanian, I don't see the possibility of extremism breaking out there.
