Why not a Cristian army?

With the advent of the dreaded muslim fanatics killing Christian and attacking Christian religious sites all over the world, why are there not STRONGLY RELIGIOUS Christians willing to take up arms, to defend their fellow Christians that are being slaughtered in the Middle East, by Islamists?

Seems that in the Jewish state, ALL the people are their ARMY, protecting them from this hideous onslaught of cultists.... Heard a radio show yesterday, where the amount of the 1.2 BILLION muslims in this world was mentioned, and figures were given that between 15-25% of all muslims were either of this extreme belief, or were strong sympathizers to the terrorists ideology. If figure were anywhere being correct, that means somewhere between 180-300 MILLION MUSLIMS are potential threats to not just Christian, but Jewish, and other religions!

Isn't it about time the Holy Father took it upon himself to create a PROTECTIVE ARMY that would indeed look after the faithful in these regions?.... and what about the EVANGELICALS?

We're a body - not an army.

Christians can join the military but we don't need to fight because our battle has already been won.

We have no dictate to fight for God in this manner.
Our directions were to go into all of the world and spread the gospel.

There are Christians who are conscientious objectors and there are Christian pacifists.
There are Christians who have joined the military and have fought in the military.

Ephesians 6:12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

James 4:2 You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.

Romans 12:17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone.

Luke 6:35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.

My grandmother thought that Christians shouldn't have fought in World War II or Vietnam because of the number of people who fought the war, came home and became bitter. She felt that Satan tempted people to fight which goes against James 4:2 and that we should have trusted God instead.

We have some rights to self defense but I would argue that we have no rights and we have to give up everything to Jesus.

There are so many opportunities to conduct unrighteous judgment when going to war and we would be portrayed in that light.

The Revolutionary War was fought by the colonists and some feel it is in opposition to Romans 13 so we could argue this or take the view that God influenced the men to stand up for Christian liberty.

Galatians 5:15 If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.

It is hard to convey the Love of God while fighting other people.

It is for some of these reasons that your question will stay unanswered until Jesus comes back:

Jude 1:14 Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about them: "See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones
Jude 1:15 to judge everyone, and to convict all of them of all the ungodly acts they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all the defiant words ungodly sinners have spoken against him."

The other translations say to execute judgment.

Until then we are pilgrims because this is not our home:

And my other argument is that a Christian army would practice Lordship or dominion which is a sign of the pagan:

Suggest you look Israel up on wiki or something so you don't continue under the impression they're all Jews, or their army is. Not only does the Israel Defense Force have Muslims, but they're high ranking officers as well.

Enemy isn't Islam, but those who use Islam as cover for their own agendas just as others use Christianity or Judaism for their's. People sincere in their faiths don't 'take up arms; to force it down other people's throats. Well, not since the Crusades you seem to wanna see resumed.

What forcing their religion down other peoples throats? We are talking about PROTECTING Christians in the ME from Islamist terrorists, by other Christians, that for years have been killing them, and since we have the feckless president, we currently have, these attacks have gotten worse! The terrorists SEE we are weak, and have let Iraq, fall back into terrorist hands, ISIL has taken over more than half of Iraq currently!

Yes, it is disturbing to see that the news media ignores the injustices done to God's people around the world while they spin and twist other stories to make Israel look bad in defending itself. The Bible says that this will happen though as people become drunken with the perversion of truth calling good evil and evil good.


but "...to live is Christ to die is gain." (Philippians 1:21)

God's love is far more powerful than any physical weapon. It is the love that transforms gang members, murderers, etc into new people full of the love of Christ. Just ask Walid Shoebat, Emeal Zwayne, Raul Ries, Nicky Cruz, and others who have had this transformation in their lives.

God has hope for every one of those people out there whether they are killing Christians or not. Hope that they will turn, that is.
