Mike Pence became a born-again Christian in college, and has lived a personal life consistent with his devout faith for almost four decades since becoming an evangelical. He and his wife Karen study the Bible, pray regularly, and regularly attend church.

Pence frequently quotes the Bible in his speeches, showcasing his deep personal knowledge of the Scriptures from decades of devotional reading, and evincing the fact that biblical principles inform both his public and private life. At his inauguration as Indiana governor, Pence invited Keith and Kristyn Getty—singers whose worship music is wildly popular in evangelical circles—to provide the music at a worship service and prayer meeting before Pence’s swearing-in.

Mike and Karen Pence have been faithfully married for 30 years, and by all accounts have an ideal marriage, deeply caring for each other and their three children. Their life paints a Norman Rockwell-type picture of a close, wholesome traditional family and domestic life that hearkened to a bygone era, one that millions of Americans would like to see again.

Pence would help energize America’s Christian community, connecting with tens of millions of Americans who feel under siege to such an extent that many now speak of a War on Christianity in America, a war that Trump has acknowledged by name and promised to fight.

He would also appeal to older voters, which is ironic given that Pence is much younger than Trump, insofar as Pence embodies an image of a national figure that millions of elderly and late-middle-age voters have trusted for much of their life. Pollsters keep talking about the youth vote, but in doing so have lost sight of the reality that older voters turn out on Election Day is far greater numbers, and can easily decide a presidential election.

Observant Christians have been sharply divided on Trump. Putting one of their own on the ticket could excite millions of American evangelicals, and millions of senior citizens as well.

Quotes the bible in his speeches? Is he some nut like Santorum?

That is a huge turn off. Keep your religion out of my politics.

Religion is the one thing that might save American politics, ya moron. And hey, if being a Christian is so repulsive to you, vote for Hillary....no worries about her not being a traitorous, lying, atheist eh?

in other words he is a bible thumping retard

Why would an evangelical hook his wagon to a deviant, evil, thieving piece of shit like Trump?

I do not understand how any evangelical Christian could support a man whose fortune is built on gambling. Casinos which prey on human weakness, and strip the poor and middle class of their hard-earned money. Those massively expensive temples of glitz and unadulterated sin are not built by those people winning money.

I do not understand how any evangelical Christian can support a man whose reality TV program encourages the worst human behaviors of greed, lust, envy, gluttony, and betrayal.

I do not understand how any evangelical Christian can support a man who is the epitome of vanity, selfishness, pleasure seeking, and sins of the flesh.

Your soul is very sick indeed if you support a man like that.

If Mike Pence knows the Bible, he should think about Mark 8:36.

Because he is obviously a person of low ethics and morals - a religious hypocrite. Also, after his LGBT clusterfuck as Indiana governor - he seems desperate. He knew that killed his chances of running for president, so he hopes to come in through the back door as Adolf Trump's VP. He probably figures Trump would be impeached within a year.

I have no problem with his faith dumbass. I don't need to hear "scripture" when a politician is telling me what he's going to do about any given problem. If I want to hear that shit I'd goto church or read a bible.

And just to clear things up a bit. Almost all the earth's problems throughout history of humanity have been tied to "religion". Faith is one thing. Organized religion is as bad as government.

I'd rather know their views. For instance Obama attended a racist church for decades and had a racist as his personal advisor. The more we know about candidates the better.

Pence brings balance to the ticket and will appease the establishment. Solid choice by Trump

Glad ya got that off your chest....now maybe you should go off in the corner and have yourself a good cry. :itsok:

Alexis de Tocqueville warned us about mixing religion and politics, and provided us with a case study of what happened in Europe. The same thing is happening in America today:

The unbelievers of Europe attack the Christians as their political opponents rather than as their religious adversaries; they hate the Christian religion as the opinion of a party much more than as an error of belief; and they reject the clergy less because they are the representatives of the Deity than because they are the allies of government.

In Europe, Christianity has been intimately united to the powers of the earth. Those powers are now in decay, and it is, as it were, buried under their ruins. The living body of religion has been bound down to the dead corpse of superannuated polity; cut but the bonds that restrain it, and it will rise once more. I do not know what could restore the Christian church of Europe to the energy of its earlier days; that power belongs to God alone; but it may be for human policy to leave to faith the full exercise of the strength which it still retains.

Yep...read the link....I just picked out the moral fortitude aspect of the dude....He's also Tea Party, pretty much kicked Boner out of the Speaker's chair, and is hardcore on the border and queers.

There are a lot of evangelical's that are as fake as Trump. That is what they have in common.
