Why haven't the conservatives in Congress cut short their vacation to deal with Iraq?

The only thing the US should be doing in Iraq is closing all facilities, removing all personnel and suggesting that NO US CITIZEN step foot in the country. The same for Afghanistan.

Spacing Guild says: We can't do that. The spice must flow...The puppet government overseeing spice production is being overthrown. We must compel the Emperor to send in his legions of troops to re-secure things. The new Fremen leader Muah'dib is proving unstoppable by the Baron.

In case the plot of the 80s movie "Dune" is unfamilar to you I strongly suggest you check it out. :) To translate into real-world:

World's oil using nations say (i.e. everybody): The oil must flow...The puppet Iraqi government installed by the US is being overthrown. We, the World, must compel the President of the United States to re-occupy Iraq. The ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi will soon control Iraq's oil, and possibly much more.

Why doesn't Obama call congress back into session?

The pubs wouldn't come back.

The whole idea is to Do Nothing and then blame the president.

"...then blame the president."

His two most significant foreign policy achievements will be a nuclear Iran, and the restoration of the Islamic caliphate.

With a view to his actions, and non-actions, one would tend to believe that the above was his aim from the beginning.

A nuclear armed Iran's been nothing more than a campaign fundraising tool for over 20 years. Anyone serious about it woulda done something about it a long time ago.

Repub congress refuses to work. They refuse to do the job. Their impotent "leader" (no, not Limbaugh) has even said that they see their job as obstruction of government.

And yet, RWs whine when the president does his job.

We have plenty of oil here once we start shooting environmentalists when they get in the way and firebombing the homes of the NIMBY types stopping nuclear power plants. Now you don't have a backyard. GTFO of the way.

Doesn't matter---big oil is telling Obama what to do. Sound familiar ?

Which us why the Government shouldn't be allowed to have any more interaction with Business than ensuring nothing comes into or goes out of the country in terms of products or money.

Let me know when you can figure out a way to get money out of politics in a capitalist nation.

Let me know when you can figure out a way to get money out of politics in a capitalist nation.

Very simple. No entity which cannot vote in an election can donate to a candidate. Donors may only donate to an individual if they are already an announced candidate for an office and may only donate $250 per office per year and may only donate to one candidate per office.

So, for a US Senate race, an individual could only donate $1500 per election cycle. Even then it would only be that large IF the donor is an eligible voter in that state for all 6 years, the candidate announces their intent to run as soon as the prior election finishes, and the donor doesn't donate anythung to a rival candidate.

How simple will it be to pass a law that states that ?

Congress has no control over war??? I see, next...

The Patriot Act, and attendent legislation, greatly increased Presidential power; panic legilation is rarely good law. After 9/11, Bush decided to invade Iraq, without any link to the attack, and ignoring al Qaeda funding & resorces. We are left with the remains:

Rumsfeld dismissed National Security Agency (NSA) intercept data available by midday of the 11th that pointed to al-Qaeda's culpability, and by mid-afternoon ordered the Pentagon to prepare plans for attacking Iraq.[44] According to aides who were with him in the National Military Command Center on that day, Rumsfeld asked for: "best info fast. Judge whether good enough hit Saddam Hussein at same time. Not only Osama bin Laden."[45] A memo written by Rumsfeld in November 2001 considers an Iraq war.[46] The rationale for invading Iraq as a response to 9/11 has been widely questioned, as there was no cooperation between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaeda.[47]

Obama has been president for 5 years. Republicans have done everything they can to help him.

That means it's all Obama's fault.

Yea

sure

This was a Republican undertaking.

Why haven't they cut short their vacation, LIKE..SAY THE PRESIDENT.

Where are these guys??

You have reduced your contribution to this board to being nothing be a troll.

First of all it was a bipartian vote to go to war in Iraq, you know that, thus you lie.

Second, almost all the senior democrats backed the war in Iraq, you know that, thus you lie.

Thirdly it is the responsibility of the POTUS to handle thise situation at least short term. you know that, thus you lie.

Bottom line, you lie.

You keep trying to perpetuate THAT lie.

When the obama bombed Syria and libya the left never mentioned congress getting involved at all. I find it quite hypoctcical of the left to do so now. Besides military action in Iraq has already been approved by Congress by a bi-partisan vote.

What is going on in Iraq is all obama's fault and all obama's responsibilty to take short term action, his action, throw a few bombs in and go on vacation.

Obama didn't bomb Syria.

And the right wanted to vote for that.

When Obama said, "Sure".

Congress said, "But we can't cut our vacation, short!"

Good thing Putin jumped in and saved everyone the trouble. How's that evil dictator Assad doing? You know--the one Obama and his pals all said needs to go ?

You mean the guy who Obama forced to relinquish his chemical arsenal?

Rightwing stupidity is endless.

Their reality is so different than the rest of the world. Imagine corn eaters and cow milkers from America's bread basket knowing what's best for goat milkers and camel riders who live 15,000 miles away.

I suspect people in the middle east knowing what's happening to them and why is equal to right wingers knowing what's best for people they know nothing about. What it did was create lots and lots of people who will hate this country forever.

Worse, those same right wingers have convinced themselves it's Obama's fault. These are the same people who think Obama was "slow to act" in New Orleans after Katrina. Huh? You mean there are right wingers who believe even that? Unfortunately, too many.

Since President Obama has licensed more drilling than any other president in history, you must be one of his biggest fans.

Why don't you find in the Constitution where Congress is in charge of foreign policy? If you do, you can send that information to Martha's Vineyard, where Obama's on vacation, so he can tell the Republicans to fix things!

Why haven't the conservatives in Congress cut short their vacation to deal with Iraq? Reply to Thread

Same reason they didn't stick around to deal with the refugee situation on the southern border.

They did their job: They blamed the president for doing his job when they refuse to do theirs.

Maybe Congressmen should be paid only when they are doing what they were elected to do. They could maybe be on a time clock system. They would be paid by the hour. When they are spending time raising money, the clock stops. Hard to manage of course, which is why having strictly taxpayer funded elections is so important.

They only work 126 days a year.

And, for the Repubs, that time is spent either obstructing government or posing for photo ops.

Then its back to the bars and the golf courses.
Most people do not realize that even when they are not on vacation, Boehner only has them working on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. They get 4 days off every week.
