The poor needs help now, not spread out over 4 years. Why is the new $15 mw being implemented so gradually if it isn't damaging to the economy? If this new wage scale is so great, then why not institute it now?

Fact is, they know it only benefits the government, not the workers they claim it will help. They also know that many small businesses won't be able to afford it......which will cause massive unemployment similar to that we saw in 08 and 09. This policy is designed to help Democrat politicians, not their voters.

What did Obama do when the price of gas dropped below $2? He suggested raising taxes on gasoline. This is what every politician looks at. If you have more money to spend, they start looking into more ways of taking it from you. It's a never ending cycle of raising wages, then raised costs of living. Meanwhile, all of our jobs are leaving. Well, not all of them. They'll need more people to work at government offices to provide services for all of the new immigrants Obama is bringing here at the same time.

Meanwhile, Democrat Cuomo and Hillary Clinton, the leading Democratic candidate for president, were the star attractions at a victory rally in New York City Monday for the $15 minimum wage. The two states voted Monday to gradually raise their minimum wages over the next four years to eventually reach $15 per hour. "California may be the first state to pass a $15 minimum wage, but it will also be the first to find out why that's a bad idea", he said. This might be why Alan B. Krueger, the minimum-wage expert who formerly headed Mr. Obama's Council of Economic Advisers, has written: "A minimum wage set as high as $12 an hour will do more good than harm for low-wage workers, but a $15-an-hour national minimum wage would put us in uncharted waters, and risk undesirable and unintended consequences". "More than 96 percent of all businesses in Texas are small businesses - and they account to two-thirds to three-quarters of all new net jobs in the last 20 years", she said. Yesterday, the governors of California and NY signed legislation to raise their states' minimum wage over the next few years to $15 an hour throughout California and for much of NY. States and cities have moved to surpass the federal minimum wage, which has remained at $7.25 an hour since 2009. Such is the state of the progressive movement: Nurtured by grassroots groups and then brought into the mainstream by moderate Democrat leaders. Perhaps the most significant point of debate on the matter involves tipped workers - such as those in the food service industry who work for a wage far below the minimum, but whose gratuities push them beyond the state- or federally-mandated threshold. "While workers will have the potential to earn more money to better support their families, the Senate Republicans recognized the serious challenges that such a jump in wages would create upstate for small businesses, schools, hospitals, farmers and not-for-profits", said Sen. Brown proudly describes the new law as "economic justice" for minimum wage workers. "But morally, socially and politically they make every sense because it [sic] binds the community together to make sure parents can take care of their kids". After that, the wage would be adjusted annually according to inflation with a maximum increase of 3.5% per year. "Manufacturing provides the opportunity for middle skilled workers to obtain the higher wage jobs available in the manufacturing economy". Governor Brown said California's fast-growing economy can absorb the raises. In Los Angeles, Gov. Yes, were now to believe what liberal Berkley researchers have to say on the matter as opposed to what we're seeing happen in areas that have increased wage salaries. First, in "richer" areas like New York City or San Francisco, it appears that minimum wage increases do help the poor. "If you were to tell me I could work fewer hours, and make as much or more than I could have previously, that would be okay". But Brown is right about the economic logic of a $15 minimum wage. People make higher wages when they gain experience or hold jobs requiring higher levels of skill. California's current rate, US$10, is second only to Washington DC's at US$10.50. Under the California legislation, the minimum wage will rise to $10.50 per hour on January 1, 2017, for businesses with 26 or more employees, and then rise each year until reaching $15 per hour in 2022. Though Brown's minimum wage deal is a welcome and necessary change in California's economic landscape, the reality of the situation is that $15 is not the same across the board. Blues states and Democrats love the idea as it benefits the unions the most. Minimum wage increase increases union wages. More income for unions, means a bigger war chest for the Democrats..

That is the only reason the far left likes the idea.

So.....CA and NY are gonna be flooded with leftists now coming to get a $15/hour burger flipping job and demand to live the American dream off of it forever. But there won't be enough to go around....so they'll be poor and homeless and on NY/CA welfare.

Good job idiots.

I've lived in California. The purchasing power of $15.00 an hour in CA is roughly the equivalent to the purchasing power of $5.00 in any Republican Southern State. California as an economic model shit itself many years ago.

Dems are currently on a "everything is free" binge. Every dem is trying to out do the other from the goodie basket.
Good luck to the gop running against that.
