Why aren't we talking more about what jobs people in our country will do in the future?

Automation is happening, people, and it will only speed up exponentially. People will lose jobs and for every job lost there won't be a new one made in its place

Great question. I wish I had an answer.

Even though I don't have an answer I am convinced that others do. We desperately need to address this issue. Unfortunately, it seems that politicians on both sides of the aisle are more concerned with those things that provide instant gratification to their constituents with no concern for what lies over the horizon. It seems it's all about the votes with no consideration for the long-term future.
