Putting that aside, of course Bush bears some moral responsibility for US troop deaths in Iraq. His responsibility is not the same as if he had murdered them, but he is responsible nevertheless. He made the decision to invade Iraq, and US troop deaths were an inevitable consequence. That doesn't mean the decision to invade Iraq was incorrect (though I certainly believe it was) but it does make him responsible for the positive and negative consequences thereof.

I've got a question for you. The terrorists who did all of that killing - were they there BEFORE we invaded Iraq? Saddam was a bastard; but he did not have AQ running rampant inside his country blowing his citizens to pieces. That only occurred AFTER we invaded and destabilized the the region. So, no, Bush didn't plant the IEDs, but his unnecessary war was the reason that AQ was there blowing up US troops and Iraqi civilians. Sorry, that's just how it works. When you go to war, you expect the enemy to fight back and you expect to take casualties. You also expect to inflict casualties on the enemy, and you HOPE to inflict many more casualties on the enemy than your own forces take (and we did).

In all such cases, the blame for ALL of the deaths, ours and theirs, falls on the side that started the war. In the case of the Iraq war, that means us. And as Bush was the president, it means him, although as I said, Congress must share some of the blame, too.
