The whole reason JFK was in Texas that week was to woo the conservative wing of the Democratic Party. He was very much unliked by the conservative Democrats, especially by the right wing racists who had been blocking civil rights legislation for three quarters of a century in the Senate.

Around 1958 or so, the Republicans and Democrats had an equal balance of liberals and conservatives in their respective parties. Over time from that period forward, the Democratic party became more and more left wing while the Republican party became more and more right wing. The real turning point was the civil rights legislation passed by LBJ with the support of liberal Republicans and Democrats in Congress.

The conservative wing of the Republican Party used the Democratic Party's push for equal rights for the negroes as a jigaboo to scare the negrophobic right wing whites in the Democratic party to begin their exodus into the Republican party. This "Southern Strategy" was outlined in black and white (literaly) in this political piece: Nixon's Southern Strategy: "It's All In The Charts"

Ignorant revisionists try to deny there was a "Southern Strategy" these days, but you can see right there for yourself it is an undeniable fact.

And it worked, bigly. Today, the GOP is heavily infested by racists from the South.

JFK was from the liberal wing of the Democratic Party, Texas Governor John Connally was from the conservative wing. JFK was in Texas because it would be a crucial state in JFK's 1964 re-election bid.

Nope he proposed lowering from 91% to 65% he also proposed a corporate tax rate be lowered from 52 to 47%. In his own words " an economy hampered by restrictive tax rates will never produce enough jobs or enough profit".

I have a long and documented history of being for the elimination of tax expenditures and lowering tax rates for EVERYONE.

The problem isn't tax rates. The problem is government gifts for special interests in the tax code which cause all of us to have to pay higher tax rates, and which cause the government to borrow TRILLIONS AND TRILLIONS.

If we eliminated the $1.4 trillion of tax expenditures in the federal tax code, we could significantly lower tax rates AND balance the budget.

The Rube Herd has been asphyxiated with so much fucking smoke and mirrors, they are now too ignorant and willfully stupid to catch on how they are being robbed.
