They are those "off brand" Cheetos, but yes, you could buy apples or oranges instead. Here they are 79 cents each, what are they in FLA now?
We don't pay for oranges, in FL.
We make ya'll do that

We've got some of the fattest starving people on earth.
I don't see any kids starving and I live in a town with a huge number of very poor people.
What, exactly, do you think they look like?
A large part of the problem in the US is we have a large population of homeless children. Those kids are completely off the radar, and are typically teens so you don't notice them.
Those kids are hungry. And there are no shelters outside of the big cities.
In the U.S. hunger and race are related. In 1991 46% of African-American children were chronically hungry, and 40% of Latino children were chronically hungry compared to 16% of white children.
The infant mortality rate is closely linked to inadequate nutrition among pregnant women. The U.S. ranks 23rd among industrial nations in infant mortality. African-American infants die at nearly twice the rate of white infants."
The world hunger problem: Facts, figures and statistics
"Results. Of the 12 cases reviewed, the median age was 2.7 years, with a range of 2.25 months to 13 years 7 months. Half of the children died shortly before or soon after presentation for medical care or to law enforcement.
Also, the "fatty" foods are a lot cheaper to buy than than fruits and vegetables, and lean cuts of meats. The kids are eating pork rinds and hot cheetos and Little Debbies, with a orange soda as thier drink.
cheetos are expensive, very expensive, you could buy oranges for the price of a bag of cheetos.

I think Cheetos was just an example. My opinion is that people who more often make those types of choices are simply uneducated, which usually goes hand in hand with being poor. Children usually like what their children like, so if uneducated mom loves cokes and cheetos well of course thats what junior is going to like and so on and so forth.

Again... there are charities and programs all over the country that help people to eat. If children have parents and those kids are hungry... that is the fault of the parents... not mine as I sit here making a living and taking care of my family.
You libs sure are some guilt bearing attention getting whores aren't you?
You just care more than anyone you fake as shit hypocrites
I'd go to the public library and ask for cookbook....I congratulate you for your work
I don't think there are many American children starving from lack of food. The children who are hungry are hungry because of parental neglect. Its good for the schools to offer a stopgap to ensuring the kids have proper nutrition, but we really need to go after the marginal parents
Yes, maybe "starving" was the wrong choice of word, how about, "Very, very hungry."
Have you ever watched a kid tear into his food like it's the first time he/she has eaten? They are to leave anything they don't eat on a tray, but often I find food that they've snuck out of the lunchroom in their bookbags. And I'm always sending them home with food, and I provide a snack at 11 everyday too.
And you're right, a lot of these parents need to learn how to shop for healthy foods.
I agree with you. With many parents it is indifference over how their children eat. But I suspect a lot of it is a lack of education. Cooking and shopping skills used to define the lower classes. The ability to take inexpensive foods and make healthy filling meals.
I think today if you gave every American family a free 20 lb bag of flour, most would throw it out....they would have no idea what to do with it.

Umm. I am not a liberal. I am a conservative , but how about having some compassion for fuck's sake? You know we have children in our own school who get themselves up in the morning, and get their selves to school everyday, and if they don't eat at school, they don't eat? I guess you just say fuck those kids for being poor?
'Islamic Information and Products' ?Some Statistics on Poverty in America
Yes, poverty is a reality in America, just as it is for millions of other human beings on the planet. According to the US Census Bureau, 35.9 million people live below the poverty line in America, including 12.9 million children.

Very true, but I THINK attitudes are changing, at least in my area. Our school offers an extended version of what we used to call home ec, which consists of 6 classes which teach everything from shopping to preparing meals to nutrition etc etc, and it's very encouraging to see that they have become so popular that we're going to have to offer most of them twice a day next school year. Kids are wanting to learn to cook. Honestly , I give some credit here to that evil television and the Food Network.
It makes sense to teach cooking. Many kids don't learn those skills at home. My son was a Boy Scout and every boy in the troop learned how to shop for food and prepare meals for the entire troop. Its a skill they carry through life.
I also think they need to stress the "economics" of home economics. How to make a family budget, balance a checkbook, prioritize your expenditures, get a car loan, sign a rental agreement. many Americans are clueless when it comes to managing their finances
wait... liberals love big nanny states and the first thing they cut if a program designed to do the parents' job and make the State the kids' new parental figure?Home ec classes were among the first to be cut when liberals started looking for classes to cut so they could keep all the unions happy.

How can I help them? I will tell you how.... I pay fricken taxes out the wazzoo for programs that feed them. If their parents don't take advantage of that... that is their fault. There is nothing else that I can do.
Keep the guilt to yourself... I don't deserve any of it.

Anyone else think it's sad that the State has to do the parents' fucking job?
For many years I served as a teacher/mentor at my school. We would provide pizza, soda, ice cream sundaes etc.
And the kids would eat like they hadn't eaten in months.
I realized that most of the kids in the program were obese and started buying fruit and water and planned physical activities like nature walks and kickball. Each month the group got smaller until we disbanded last year. They only joined for the junk. Sad.

As do I when it comes to Red Vines. I have no self-control when it comes to Red Vines. Or beef Jerkey.

Guess they weren't hungry after all, were they? Otherwiser they'd have eaten the food and not just the candy and icecream.
