The money the US government receives in tariffs are paid by US importers and passed on to US consumers. US tariffs are just another US tax.

Tariffs applied by Mexico on US exports, about $276 billion, raises the price of US goods in Mexico making them less desirable which results in reduced sales in Mexico and threatens US jobs.

Within weeks after the tax is implemented, there would be internet sites operated outside the US available to transfer money. The tax would be a burden on Americans. The cost to police it would be high. And lastly, it wouldn't raise near enough money to build the Trump wall.

Even the bicycle that I ride, while the frame is built here, and it's assembled here, the components (shifters, deraileurs, pedals, wheels, etc.) all generally come from somewhere else. In the case of my bike, France and Italy for the components, America for the frame and assembly.
