What should the GOP do now?

I will tell you what the GOP needs to do. Unfortunately, most of the Republicans here will fall asleep before they get halfway through my post because their attention spans have been that diminished by their masters.

First, the GOP needs to stop sounding like a bunch of whiny little bitches. Just read their posts in this topic to see what I mean. Conservatives were once very optimistic and brilliant and full of ideas. Today they sound like a bunch of sore losers and pessimists.

Second, when the GOP isn't sounding like a bunch of whiny little bitches, they sound like assholes. Gay bashing, immigrant bashing, Muslim bashing. Just constant hate coming from the Right. And if there isn't a handy homo or darkie around to bash, they revert to their Primary Directive of making shit up just to stay in attack mode.

Simply put, the GOP needs to return to being the party of superior ideas. They are clearly out of them, and their brains have become mush.

The republican party we now have will not win another national election.

adapt to the facts that exsist or die.

They will have to have fox reeducate these fact adverse fools they cultivated through Fox or die dragging their idiot ideas arround for another ten years

The republican party would have done itself a service by folding some classical liberal ideas into its fold.
The republicans should stick strictly to fiscal/monetary conservativism and stop trying to legislate morality.

Abortion? Doctor patient issue. NOT a federal govt. legislation issue.

Immigration? This nation was founded on immigrants. The only reason immigration is a problem is because we have too little economic freedom in this country, which makes it a good demogogue issue for platform politicians. Ditch federal minimum wage and other disadvantages to workers and stop starting war with target groups.

Drug war? Used to be a "liberal" platform more or less. But they aren't doing shit and never plan too.

Republicans simply NEED the liberty and individual freedom for all platform.

Another non-answer.

I wonder why this is so difficult.

.

This is so difficult because the right have demonized Obama and can't admit he is doing exactly as they should be doing. Obama is taking a page out of President Clinton's play book. Preach to the liberal base and govern in the middle, even slightly right of middle. What are the republicans going to do agree with the President? Go left of the President?

Examples. Republicans bash Obamacare as a redistribution of wealth but also say it is tax on the middle class. Is that socialism? Also if the middle class is paying for Obamacare than businesses are not. Obama bailed out the banks and the auto industry. Again, that doesn't quite fit socialism. Did he put special restriction on the industries that they had to use union labor or pay for childcare? Republicans had to pick Mitt who is wacky right fiscally or else they would have to admit Obama was standing on their ground. I call myself 'left of liberal' because if Obama is liberal left of that is only two degrees off center.

What about the issue of demographics? Can the GOP try to improve its standing with minorities without looking contrived and dishonest? I don't know how the party moves forward without that group.

.

Give me a break man! :(

Just kidding. How in the world could they? Best they have on their whole bench is Jindal and he looks contrived as Hell when it comes right down to it. And he would have all the chance Chris Dodd did in 2008, my champion in the primaries, while he lasted.

"Compassionate conservatism" was the manta of 2000 to pick up disenfranchised democrats. Can you imagine trying to run 'compassionate conservatism" after the 2012 campaign? You're talking about no less than throwing out the entire republican party platform and starting from scratch. It is just not doable. 2004 was repeating '9/11' for 30 seconds every commercial break. 2008 was a landslide. The only reason everyone isn't dumbfounded with the monumentes achievement of 2012 was the size of 2008. For 2016 to be like 2000 all Hell would have to break lose between now and than (which is why a certain something that happened somewhat recently bothers me greatly) and Obama is going to do everything in his power to prevent that.

Amen!

Abortion? Doctor patient issue. NOT a federal govt. legislation issue.

From the perspective of an unborn child being a human life, abortion is the murder of a human being. Therefore, from a social conservative point of view, the law should protect those lives.

The only reason immigration is a problem is because we have too little economic freedom in this country, which makes it a good demogogue issue for platform politicians. Ditch federal minimum wage and other disadvantages to workers and stop starting war with target groups.

Immigrants are our nation's lifeblood. We need a healthy, functional immigration system. Right now, that system is severely broken and is the cause of so many illegal immigrants being here now.

Drug war? Used to be a "liberal" platform more or less. But they aren't doing shit and never plan too.

Republicans simply NEED the liberty and individual freedom for all platform.

Using alcohol as the benchmark, marijuana should be legalized. Pot causes less dependence, and no more intoxication, than alcohol.

.

Ideas the GOP should be championing:

1. Raise the Social Security and Medicare eligibility age. We are living longer, we should be working longer.

2. Remove the legislative thumbs which are tilting the scales to the rich man's advantage. Our capitalistic society is in serious peril, with an unnatural concentration of wealth into the hands of a protected few which we were so presciently warned about by Thomas Jefferson. We no longer have a free market with open price discovery.

3. Eliminate all tax expenditures. If a Congressman cannot tinker with the tax code, bribing him with campaign funds to do so becomes a pointless exercise. This also allows for the tax rates to be lowered considerably, or permits the elimination of income taxes altogether in favor of consumption taxes.

Here's a radical idea. What about the explosive growth of a third party. (mean that very figuratively)

The issue there is it would have to be unlike any third party in recent history. I don't know of any example. I don't even know how it would fit in but for all piratical (spell check picked this one so I cam keeping it) purposes the republican party is dead in the water for a very long time. If we're going to be a two party system I think it is more likely for a grassroots party to achieve that status then the GOP. A grass root could actually flank the democrats although democrats are doing a pretty good job so I think the most they could bring the democrats back a little left.

Don't make up lies about people then not back up your statement with proof you lying Welfare queen. Or are to stupid to remember doing it? You got personal bitch, now don't try to backpedal by deflecting your bullshit telling me I make no sense. Anyone can go back in this very thread and read exactly what you said. You fucking ignorant dimwit. Don't put words in my mouth then run away like a fucking child you lowlife piece of Welfare trash.

Romney should have went after Obama like he went after Newt. Dems would have had to work overtime to manufacture enough votes for Obama to win

That's all the Right has done for four years. Attack, attack, attack. And that is why the GOP lost.

Whine, whine, whine, whine, whine, whine, whine, whine, whine, whine.

Not one fucking good idea. Just whine, whine, whine, whine, whine, whine. Complain, complain, complain, complain.

No one likes a whiny little bitch. Especially a whiny little bitch who is also a whiny sore loser bitch.

"Repeal ObamaCare".

Yeah? Then what?

"Well... we won't be like THAT guy!"

Aaaaaaand?

See the problem?

That is the image the republican party has carefully culitvated for years now

The Mensa elite chime in.

when have you EVER turned out to be correct in a prediction on the effects of a policy?

being stupid and wrong all the time is not a badge of honor you fool

Would you care to link to ANY instance of me being incorrect predicting the effects of a policy? If there is one thing that I hold dear at USMB it is honesty... And you my pea-brained liberal friend are being decidedly dishonest. I await your response, and your link to my words... Or are you just going to admit that you are a fucking lying bitch rather than prove the unprovable?

now go get some proof you were ever right on your predictions
