It looks like the Republicans don't want to hear from Independents, Moderates or Democrats on how to proceed after losing an election to a President presiding over an 8% unemployment rate, and after being unable to come close to re-taking the Senate.

Okay, fair enough, it's your party.

So what should the GOP do going forward? And in your response, I'd love to see attention given to the following facts:

  • America's demographics are changing rapidly
  • The Dems essentially own the minority vote
  • Only 45% of Catholics voted for "pro-life" Romney
  • Abortion continues to be an important issue
  • Many in the party absolutely refuse to budge on taxes or abortion
  • Many Republicans are blaming a stupid populace for their loss

So, given the above, what's the plan to re-take the White House, to move America in a more conservative direction? Precisely?

Serious responses, please.

Why should you care what the GOP does, or doesn't do? Another liberal who professes to know what is best for somebody else.

Rubber stamp everything the LOLberals want. Of course, then they risk taking all the blame for the failed policies. But that seems to be the case anyhow.

Give the people what they want. Give it ALL to them.

Interesting. First of all, I care because I want two strong parties, so that each can keep the other in check. If you want to think that anyone who challenges you to think a bit is a liberal, that's your problem, not mine.

Secondly, please explain how I profess "to know what is best for somebody else", when I'm asking for your opinion.

You're trying too hard. Perhaps you should step away from the radio for a while. If you don't have an answer to my honest question, maybe you could just say, "gee, I don't know." Maybe Rush will cover it for you.

Here's an idea.
Let the GOP figure out what they need to do, on their own. Liberals don't need to give advice or pointers.

A lot of conservatives are actually pretty intelligent. They'll figure it out.

they need to do something smart if they want to show they are intelligent.

When will they start doing something smart?

Well, this is a political board, on which we share our opinions. My straightforward question has not been answered yet, which is, in itself, an answer.

I remain hopeful we'll see some ideas.

I agree. :eusa_pray:

Let these "smart" conservatives figure it out, as a Liberal/Socialist, I love winning.

They have already almost completely forgotten that there was a precedent this election, the demographics OFFICIALLY did not add up.. Game, set, match.

Damn, this thread in Politics, not in the Flame Zone. :D

The OP ended with serious responses please... It's the one-liner that allowed it to escape the rubber room.

Sorry, just thinking out loud.

Since I gave a frivolous post I guess I got to give something of value. Hey, stop laughing!

First of all Republicans can stand on the same ground they are now. Just as President Clinton was hardly a fiscal liberal Obama has moved so far into the center, despite what the nutters would believe, OMG, raise the progress tax rate on income over $250k is drastic? Come on.

I think the only thing for the Republicans to do is come into the center also. It would also be one party with two different mascots. What they would be offering is a balance between very similar stances. One says raise the progress tax rate on everyone over $200 and the other would say raise the progress tax rates on everyone over $500k. No estate tax deduction versus no home mortgage deduction. Out of Afghanistan by 2014 versus out of Afghanistan by 2016. There is just no place for the republican party to stand but the middle. There are man stances which are worthy from libertarians and maybe even one, maybe two, from the tea party, but adopting any one of those is going to loose them votes more and more over time.

The parties have to work together. A relationship councilor(s) should be on public retainer. Maybe whoever worked with Metallica.

Does the republican party have a future in the near future. I don't think so. I see them loosing the house in 2014 and possibly White House again in 2016. We have some very strong potentials and they would have to do some major changes to their party to nominate someone viable. If the republicans want the White House they need to start cleaning their house today. (I always love to end on a witty note. :D)

Yet you had to cheat in Democrat cities.

Odd, no?

Thanks!

Yeah, the guy who worked with Metallica would be a good pick. Hetfield threw him a curveball went he went into rehab for so long, but things worked out pretty well. That guy is used to working with people with huge egos, that would sure as hell help.

On moving to the center, the hardcore right (including the radio listeners) are gonna fight that tooth and nail. I don't know how the hell they get around that.

Appreciate the civil response!

What should the republicans do?

Stop listening to you and push forward with their true conservative Agenda, that is what!!

Republicans know you do not wish to help them, so get the hell out of the way!!

I don't listen to much radio at all. You want two strong parties? Start by telling me what GOP candidates you have ever voted for Nationally to back that statement up? I'm very aware that you are a Liberal based upon your posts on this board... There is no black magic afoot. The honest question you should be asking yourself is what personal handouts were you intent on securing by voting for Obama? You certainly didn't vote for him based upon his stellar record of accomplishments... Unless of course you define stellar accomplishments as financial rewards for lazy people who choose not to work, and would rather bitch about people who succeed than work to succeed themselves. I hardly think Republicans need to start outlining their plans for 2014 to the very people who oppose them... It would probably be in your own best interest to worry more about how Obama is going to pay for all those broken promises he has been making for the last four years that never seem to materialize for his base. Like ending the WOT, closing GITMO, and eliminating the Patriot Act. Yes, you Democrats won the election... But what did you really win? That's right... George Bush's fourth term. It's funny that the person the left despises the most (Bush) is the very person Obama has chosen to model his entire Presidency upon... Including the use of the very timelines Bush put in place such a short time ago... You ever get the feeling you've been had?

Here we go again. You people are very, very defensive. I'm asking for opinions, not telling anyone to do anything. Is that really so difficult to understand?

I'll ask you a question, let's see if you can answer it without getting so cranky: Let's say the GOP does what you say, and "push forward with their true conservative agenda". Great. Assuming the party sticks with its issues, would you suggest they change their messaging in any way? And if so, how?
