Are you one of those people that only look at a couple sections? Do you just read all active threads? Politics brought you to USMB? Elections? Do you love to learn? Do you think you are a know it all? Lol..

What keeps you coming back? I'm genuinely curious. I think by answering these question publicly we can find common ground.

Politics, economy, laws and justice, education, immigration, wars.

Yes, politics brought me here.
Yes, I've always loved learning.
No, in no way am I a "know-it-all". I wont live long enough to know 1/1000th of what I'd like to know.
I come back to engage in conversations, meet people, and generally have a good time.

Anything else?

The Flame Zone.

I used to post all sorts of things in the other sections. Eventually I realized that all the other sections are just like the Flame Zone anyways as all threads eventually devolve into partisan bickering and ad hominem attacks.

In fact, I get a lot of news from here. In addition, the news gets parsed and analyzed quickly and by various people and views. There are references to informative sites, etc.
I learn a lot about what is going on in the country, often to my dismay.

Usually religion and current events... but I have found myself rather turned off to USMB.

I had hoped there might be something to learn from others about their religious/ spiritual perspectives... but honestly, the few people who actually peaked my interest on the religion board lost it due to their constant attacks against other religions, and their inability to absorb the strengths of other spiritual/ religious systems outside their own.

I also thought maybe I could share some of my own spiritual system there... but my target audience is a younger, more exciting, energetic and open minded crowd than what that forum offers, and I now have other, better ways for which to reach those types of people than USMB.

I read through current events at times and find myself disgusted by the constant prejudice people have towards each other. If they aren't complaining and arguing about race its about sexual orientation, attitudes towards law enforcement, etc. What an incredible weakness it is to lack the ability to unify and create stronger connections with others because of minor differences that you cannot accept about them.

Needless to say, "I" do not see "myself" remaining here for much longer. There will not be a "farewell" thread. We will soon move on and "Ashtara" will seize to exist here.

That would be sad. I have noticed you but do not spread out from the badlands much. Myself?

Probably the closest to my way of thinking.

I used to enjoy the Flame Zone. But....you stopped posting there and now it sucks.

Well if you actually started a topic on what religion means to you and what you feel about it people will give you what you want. Until then you'll be lacking.

That's really wonderful Sonny. I suspect you and me have a lot in common with our interests. I'd add science and current events to your list.

That's a sign of a good board. There some new story's that some people post that make me ask how in the world did they find that. We have 50-100 threads made every day here at USMB.

Arts & Crafts. I learned how to crochet a doghouse so exquisite that not even my dog will touch it.

I haven't been here long but so far I like the General Discussion. Depending on the moderation of this forum I may later find interest in the Religious threads.

Religion is a hot topic that often leads to censorship even in a "discussion" forum. Perhaps you guys know how the religious forums are run around here.
