What purpose does God Serve?

If humans are capable of doing things on our own....creating technology...creating medical "savior" procedures....Performing miracles using medicine and other techniques....etc

What is the purpose of God? In any religion?

That would not be correct, technology, science, medicine, and otherwise are religious institutions - as they involve the study of God or the cosmos.

Without the cosmos, humans could not exist, let alone do anything. And there of course is no rational reason a "secular" minded individual would care about higher things such as science, medicine, altruism, or anything more than any feral dog or beast would to begin with.

It is the purpose of God to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of mankind. All of mankind will eventually resurrect from the dead and live immortally forever. This is a gift of God to all who receive a body of flesh and bones while mortal in this life. Eternal life on the other hand, is something that God provides and is there for the taking of us all. But if we choose not to take it, then we will not receive it. Eternal life is a choice. It is only acquired by those who exercise their free will to take it. You cannot force eternal life on someone. Eternal life is a life like God's life. To have such a life, one must choose to become like God by casting off his sins through repentance, loving his fellow beings and doing good continually. Those who are saved into the kingdom of heaven are those who will be able to receive eternal life. Without God, immortality and eternal life would not be possible.

John 3:16
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

2 Nephi 10:23
23 Therefore, cheer up your hearts, and remember that ye are free to act for yourselves—to choose the way of everlasting death or the way of eternal life.

Jude 1:21
21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

What is the purpose of God? In any religion?

You are far more fragile thsn you realize. Every day really is a GIFT from God. The fact that your organs function, every breath you take.

What purpose does HE serve? Better to wonder what purpose YOU serve on His behalf. This life is VERY short. You've only got one shot.
