They got rid of them a few weeks ago because the mods couldn’t moderate them.

At least one didn't seem to need much moderation. Couldn't they close the offensive one and leave the rest for the users?

First they closed the shooting/guns/hunting forum. Then we get one a user created. Now that gets closed too? WTF?
Problem was that the mods couldn’t even see what was in a particular group unless invited into it. Thus a group could be posting kiddy porn or planning a terrorist attack for all they knew. Thus they decided because of liability issues that groups had to go. Makes sense to me, even though I didn’t particularly like that had to happen.

And the groups couldn't be given an option of inviting a mod or getting shut down? They had to remove the entire set of groups? Jeez.

And we never did really get an answer about the gun forum being closed, other than, you can post in the Garage. That sucked.

WinterBorn You can use The Garage for gun topics. That is one reason it is there.

per one of our senior mods:

We had an area here for gun enthusiasts before. FF sold most of its forums a couple of years ago. Part of that deal was that our gun area had to go and that we can not have another set aside for it for at least 3 MORE years.

I remember. But the topics roll off the front page. And filtering out all the other junk is a waste of time. Considering the number of posts and the number of participants, there is obviously enough interest. I just do not understand the callous attitude towards the people who want to discuss guns and shooting.

WTF? That is insane. But it is good to know how much solid posters are valued.

I just pointed out it was far above the mods, and even the admins, purview.

There's an old saying about spilt milk.

True. But there is no reason to hang around if they are out of milk.

Perhaps I was fooled by the top tagline. "USMessageBoard - where your voices count".
