Does anyone remember when Obama rammed obamacare done our throat and he tried to get republicans to support it? I couldn't figure out why a party that had the presidency and both houses of congress would care one iota whether or not republicans supported it but now I think I know why. It is because, when it fails, they can say "we tried the free market way" or they can blame it on the republicans in some way. They can then scrap it and replace it with a single payer system and claim some bullshit that they tried the free market way because republicans participated in it.
