What about Obama makes him socialist?

And still no one can answer my original post. Just as I suspected...people using words they just don't understand.

You phrased your OP in a cagey way. Because Obama didn't actually succeed in enacting what he wanted to, you can make the claim that he wasn't socialist. His failures allow you to continue your denial.

Since that's such a common label to attach to Obama, what policies exactly has Obama enacted that make him socialist?

Now here is the important part. How are those policies different from the policies of any of our past presidents?

I'm looking for actual evidence, specific examples, and not "that is where our country" is headed nonsense.

it's all about talking points and labeling people (so each side can get more votes/power). proving stuff isn't important.

The atrocity known as Obamacare is not what he wanted. We stopped him from getting what he wanted. So now because he is a failed socialist, Dems can conveniently argue that he's not one at all.
Tell us what he really wanted, then.

I'll let him tell you:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpAyan1fXCE]Obama on single payer health insurance - YouTube[/ame]
But he didn't even start with Single Payer as an opening negotiation. It was never on the table in the health care debate.

So what happened to his so-called Socialism?

It’s very easy to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian project, most people are a little reluctant to oppose anything that suggests medical care for people who possibly can’t afford it." - Ronald Reagan

Everything but the intent is in the open. Intent is cloaked and used to pave the way to Hell is paved with bricks of deceit .

Obama was a political opportunist who was more interested in nominal achievements than in standing up for his principles. The most important thing to him was making history.

Ah, he doesn't seek socialist policy, not because he isn't a socialist, but because he's uninterested in standing up for his principles.

Well, all right then. I suppose we can agree that if he is a double secret socialist, he doesn't seem all that interested in socialism. He certainly hasn't pursued it as President.

However, none of this means that Obama's basic ideals aren't socialist. Without Republicans reining him in, Obama would have loved to play to his Progressive base. But gee, our elected representatives represented us and did their duty and stopped him from achieving many of his misguided goals.

Again, I linked you specifically to what he campaigned on in 2008, long before he began interacting with Congress. Your take seems to be that the main difference--the concession imposed on him by elected representatives as part of their duty--is that he came to accept an individual mandate.

Just because he disappointed practically everyone who voted for him does not make him a Republican. Not a Romney Republican or otherwise.

As I said, when it comes to health care financing, Obama is a (2006-era) Romney Republican. He favors a private multi-payer system built around robust competition through exchanges, with an individual mandate and tax credits for folks who may have difficulty affording insurance.

I'm happy to "claim" him, as the Republicans (Romney included) have been content to cede the center to the Democratic Party as of late.
