The Orville looks like crap! We need a good looking show that gets people excited for the future!

People have said The Expanse is too bleak or boring!

We need space thrones! We need the greatness of Babylon 5 back combined with the sex and violence young people love!

We need a space opera!

We need a stunning new vision of humanity's future!

What kind of future would today's TV viewers want?

The market for optimistic sci fi died out decades ago. Dystopia is all anyone has a taste for these days.

"The Orville" is a terrible show ... a little less terrible than it started out to be when it was still trying to find its voice.

It's optimistic in the genre of the original 'Star Trek'. But, it is hampered with bad acting (we're looking at you McFarland), a mistaken belief that jamming in as many contemporary references as possible makes the show edgy and hip, and a kitschy obsession with keeping the bad as well as the good things about the old show.

'The Orville' is McFarland's pet project and he's made so much money for Fox over the last decade that they would literally let him get naked and read the phone book for an hour each week if that was what he wanted to do.

Thank goodness he just wants to do 'The Orville'.

We do need a space opera.

We don't need it all jacked up with sex and violence. Either there is a story or there isn't. You want to watch sex? Watch porn. This whole concept of there must be sex in every story line or there must be romance has to go. It's making movies and television series worthless.

As soon as the storyline started to veer into a futurama abortion debate last episode I tuned out, deleted the episode, and canceled future recordings. Did the same thing a while ago to that show about the airliner that disappeared for 5 1/2 years. If you gotta pack lefty b.s. into your plots, Hollyweird, some of us will find other forms of entertainment.

Not sure how you got an abortion debate out of the last episode, which was about people having unnecessary cesareans to make sure their kids weren't born under a certain astrological sign. No one even talked about abortion.

What it had was a criticism of religion, I guess.

But mostly, it was a typical "Execute Wesley because he walked on the grass" kind of episode. Star Trek did a bunch of these and it's kind of a cliche.

Yup, lefty propaganda is a yawn.. time to move on..

Altered Carbon show promise, but isn't really an optimistic look at the future. It is pretty dystopian.

I liked the 100 as well.

Honestly, there just isn't any good vision for Scifi out there right now.

Romance is boring! More action please!

Can't you believe they made a video game about a space marine who becomes savior of the galaxy who is basically a space Jesus?

Sex is boring but it seems like young people want it! How did that Game of Thrones thing get so popular?

Is the market not there, or is it that Hollywood can't imagine filling it?

Me too.

I was willing to suspend disbelief enough and for long enough to watch an episode or two.

Then the Leftist programming began like you said, and I tuned out for good.

Because Tolkien is dead.
The only thing available was Dungeons and Dragons and then Harry Potter. The fantasy genre for all of it's possibilities is never as good as it should be. I don't watch it.

My kid plays Mass Effect.

What did he think of the Andromeda one?

Mass Effect blatantly rips off elements of Babylon 5 and BSG. The Citadel space station is the base of the intergalactic council. The Geth and Quarians situation is taken from BSG and the Israeli Palestinian wars.

I still watch historical documents and science on YouTube and stream it through my ancient history game console called a WiiU....Screw primetime programing which has no nutritional value fer da brain..
