Wasn’t Raising the Min Wage....

Supposed to cause massive unemployment?

Looks like conservatives were wrong about that too

The $7.25 minimum wage is below the market wage for most low skill work. Walmart pay$11 or $12, Target pays even more.

Right now, the legal minimum wage is pretty irrelevant, at least under the Booming Trump Economy.

Of course if the D's get in, and massive numbers of illegals are attracted by the open borders endorsed by the Democrat Party, the Minimum Wage will become a lot more important as the labor market expands and the economy contracts.

Depending on the nation's cost of living, and minimum costs for decent living, I think we can raise the minimum wage some more, until the economy causes some pain for the rich too. If the rich don't like it, they can go elsewhere.

Multiple Municipalities and states have raised their minimum wages. Why aren’t they faltering because of it...like you guys said they would?

The minimum wage is $8.70 in Ohio and $8.75 in West Virginia, still less than the market wage for low skill work. If the minimum wage doesn't force very many employers to change their wages, it really isn't relevant. Of course if Sanders or Bloomberg were to get in, the labor market would collapse and so will wages.

Show us where someone said massive.

Between 1914 and 2019: Seattle experienced an average inflation rate of 3.30% per year. This rate of change indicates significant inflation. ... Compared to the overall inflation rate of 3.13% during this same period, inflation in Seattle was higher.

If any state wants to raise their minimum wage even more, that's their prerogative. And of course, the Rich will go elsewhere as they have been doing already. Rich guys like Donald J. Trump and Rush H. Limbaugh III have already fled the high minimum wage/ high tax jurisdiction of New York City.

The study found that more than half of Seattle child care businesses were affected by increased labor costs as the policy increased to $13 per hour, and that the majority will be impacted as the policy increases to $15 per hour between 2019 and 2021.

The most common strategic response reported by the businesses has been to raise prices or fees of child tuition and to reduce hours of or number of staff.

Two new studies published about the Seattle minimum wage ordinance

Since candy is dumb, this means prices have gone up and consumers must pay more. If the economy declines even a little the market in Seattle will be impacted more due to the higher Beta.

Ask the unemployed vs believing what CNN tells you. How many people got cut back? Lost jobs? Robots taking their jobs? Too many IMO.

Why then is this true?

America Created 266,000 Jobs in November
JOHN CARNEY 6 Dec 2019

The imaginary recession of 2019 is over.

The U.S. economy added 266,000 jobs for the month and the unemployment rate fell to 3.5 percent, matching the lowest level in 50 years.

Economists had expected the economy to add 180,000 jobs and for unemployment to remain unchanged at 3.6 percent, according to Econoday.

Adding to the picture of strength for the labor market, previous jobs numbers were revised up. September’s figure was revised up by 13,000 to 193,000. October was revised up by 28,000 to 156,000. Together, that adds 41,000 more jobs than previously reported.

Average hourly wages are up 3.14 percent compared with last year, above economist expectations. In manufacturing, the average workweek increased by 0.1 hour to 40.5 hours. Average hourly ages of private-sector production and nonsupervisory employees rose by 7 cents in the month to $23.83, a 0.22 percent gain.

I can answer that. They're lowing paying jobs and we're a lazier than we once were.

PROG & Exploitation to that is "the Mexicans will do the work for cheap". My day we did the work, and we were a fraction the greatest generation. To this day I'll take a shovel & build over office or sales all day.

Fun huh? Silly PROGS. Sometimes I wonder how far away <1865 they really are.

All in all the highest minimum wage in the nation turned out to be a mixed bag. While some employees hours dropped at the same time new businesses flourished. According to this article the tippling point was at about $11 to $13 bucks an hour.

Seattle’s minimum wage was the highest in the nation. Here’s what happened.

Yep and moving it to $15 will be disastrous for many small businesses. Automation will become the less consult alternative and for those who cannot automate, they will just close up shop. Min wage jobs were never designed for people to support families they were always designed for part timers, students and retirees to supplement their income or get some spending money. Leftists do not comprehend basic economics. Liberals and Conservatives do. Alt Right are just as dumb as Leftists

Why should a great economy, such as we have today cause pain for anyone?

How is that a good public policy?

Our Liberal Friends are really petulant about President Trump and his policies, and are looking for a way to punish those folks who had the audacity to vote him into office in 2016. The thought is if they can somehow cause Deplorable Americans great pain, they will think twice about participating in the political process in the future.
