WASHINGTON POST: "Obama should NOT run for re-election in 2012"

Obama will run in 2012 but it will be a tight race.

Of course the liberals, homos, and 99% of the blacks will vote for him.

But many of the white's who voted for him in 2008 are disenchanted with his performance.

And won't give him their vote in 2012

Without the white vote his reelection is highly doubtful.

He'll make sure they come out to vote for him. The gop has nobody good enough to stop him.
Love her or hate her.

Only the foolish will discount her.

Sarah Palin will be stronger than ever for the GOP ticket.

Plus, you never know who will come out of the Republican fold to challenge Obama.

Obama is going to run and the Gop has nobody who can beat him.

What accomplishments is he going to run on. He and his party just got annihilated at the polls? Be specific

People list them for you now and then but your hearing is selective. Who specifically do you think can run against Obama and win?

I think that the country's big need is for the President to succeed as an international negotiator. I cannot see him persuading the Chinese to make concessions that would benefit the US economy if the Chinese know that he will be gone as President in two years time. Also, I don't really think that Obama "got annihilated at the polls".
See my blog post "Younger Women Still Support Obama..."

yup. she is unelectable, like or not.

its not a judgment of her personally, its simply a fact.

I concur. :clap2:

This is a critical moment for the country. From the faltering economy to the burdensome deficit to our foreign policy struggles, America is suffering a widespread sense of crisis and anxiety about the future. Under these circumstances, Obama has the opportunity to seize the high ground and the imagination of the nation once again, and to galvanize the public for the hard decisions that must be made. The only way he can do so, though, is by putting national interests ahead of personal or political ones.

To that end, we believe Obama should announce immediately that he will not be a candidate for reelection in 2012.

Obama himself once said to Diane Sawyer: "I'd rather be a really good one-term president than a mediocre two-term president." He now has the chance to deliver on that idea.

Opinion | One and done: To be a great president, Obama should not seek reelection in 2012

i'd rather see him be a medocre one term president than be re-elected too. but i want to see if he gets crushed by hillary in the primaries, will he begin to be a (an) humble ex president ? either way, he'd better get busy doing soething .....soon

Explain how she is unelectable when it pertains to her record as Governor? That is what people look at, how she governs and she was pretty damn good at it.

She's unelectable because other then some really extremist conservatives..no one would vote for her.

And a second "Bush" court decision is highly unlikely.

Fellow conservatives, you have to be sharper. You've let them turn a discussion on whether Obama should run into yet another Sarah Palin thread.

We'll know soon enough whether Palin has staying power. She has to make it through the Primary process to earn the nomination for the Presidential race, and there are a number of rising stars in the Republican Party, all acceptable to the Tea Partiers, to challenge her. But even in the midst of all the storm and fury surrounding her, I think even she would win if she ran against Obama today. Two years from now is anybody's guess who will be knighted by the party.

So far the annointed one has not been realistic in any way re what is happening now. He blames everybody and everything but himself and his policies for the economic conditions that exist. He doesn't blame his own inexperience, naivete, and/or arrogance for the fact that he is bombing out on almost all foreign negotiations and that continues to weaken our own position and strengthen those of China, India, Korea et al.

So will he be realistic about his prospects for re-election in 2010 and bail out while he is still ahead? His track record suggests no. But two years from now, it is still anybody's guess.

If the president goes down the reelection road, we are guaranteed two years of political gridlock at a time when we can ill afford it. But by explicitly saying he will be a one-term president, Obama can deliver on his central campaign promise of 2008, draining the poison from our culture of polarization and ending the resentment and division that have eroded our national identity and common purpose.

One of the most ridiculous conclusions I have ever seen a major newspaper publish..

Basically, because Republicans are going to obstruct everything Obama tries to accomplish, he should give up and not try to run again. As if the Republicans would magically stop their obstruction?

Some of the most partisan nonsense i have ever read

God, I hope they'll try to obstruct whatever stupidity he and the Democrats come up with in the next two years. We can't handle any more pork laden all deficit appropriation bills, buy outs, stimulus packages, or a healthcare overhaul guaranteed to bankrupt the nation.

it is a silly notion. solo politicians don't do what's best for the party. it's human nature.

Not sure what you mean by 'solo politicians' but I do believe the Tea Partiers are pushing a total reform of governments to restore it to a government of the people, by the people, for the people instead of a government to enhance the power, prestige, influence, and personal wealth of those elected to high office. If we can keep electing enough people who are true reformers instead of the weak who will quickly be dragged into the status quo and/or corrupted, we can start reversing the destructive track we're on.

solo like in the music biz. some people use the band (frank zappa) to be solo. once the've had a taste of the me only spotlight, it's hard to go back. zappa played the band, his own band, fucked em in the end.

Ah okay. You're saying that too often the guy who is elected to high office finds out that he can use the people's money to enhance his own circumstances and then those who got him there can become throw aways? If that is what you're saying, I concur completely.

So, essentially, Republicans will try to obstruct any Democrat that gets elected. So Obama not running in 2012 will not have any bearing.

Lets be honest here. The reason Republicans don't want Obama to run in 2012 is that they have nobody capable of defeating him

Two Democrats at the Washington Post just wrote an OP-Ed advising Obama not to run in 2012.
