......it is almost impossible to change the culture/politics/etc of a foreign nation without TOTAL war like Japan and Germany after WW2 ---and this with the US having reason to blast them to hell
...Vietnam is a perfect example
..the Brits and Russians lost in Afghanistan --this should be an obvious lesson

....Osama and his buddies needed an a$$ kicking in Afghanistan.....however, we should not think we can change Afghanistan

and then General Westmoreland
he used the phrase "light at the end of the tunnel" to describe the outlook for the war, repeating almost word-for-word the doomed May 1953 prediction of French General Henri Navarre.

Afghan War:
We did hear from a couple of American generals that the U.S. and Afghan forces have been killing what they call a high number of Taliban fighters, though we weren't given the actual numbers.

Mattis and the Afghan War:
Now, as part of the Trump administration, he is sending in more troops, hoping to end America's longest war.

I think the President agrees that we need to get out of useless foreign adventures but it's strange that the left went hysterical when Trump withdrew forces from Syria.
