The EU elections are being held today and are being seen as a test of the countrys mood on brexit.

All the polls suggest that the brexit party will get more votes than all the others but in itself this is not so significant.

Both Labour and the tories are expected to be punished by the electorate but for different reasons. The tories will be punished by their brexit wing for failing to deliver this nonsense. Labour will be punished for failing to oppose brexit enough.

The minority parties will suck up the disaffected.

The brexit party will cannibalize all of the brexit votes alongwith ukip which is now the extreme neo nazi party.

The Libs,Greens, Change UK and the nationalists will pick up the disaffected remainers.

If you allow that the tories and labour will be broadly leave and remain then the election will b the best guage to date on what the UK thinks about brexit.

So if brexit, ukip and the tories can get over 50% it looks like brexit is still holding strong. If they cant then the case for a second referendum is stronger. This assumes a decent turn out of course.

It has been the most low key election that I can remember, bereft of any debate or policies.

Early results show brexit party will get most votes but remain parties combined have won. I am pretty happy with that.
