US Steel shutters last Granite City steel furnace "indefinitely".

Simply not true.

I had a good friend that worked at the Granite City mill. He was a union member and he used to brag often about how he got to sleep for half of his shift. He drove the truck thing that moved the big giant rolls of steel once they were made. That was his only job and he could not be made to do anything else. In an 8 hour overnight shift he would normally have to do it twice. The rest of the time he was "resting" for the next time he had to do.
Serfish System

No employee has a stake in how much profit his company makes.

Capitalism does have some pitfalls.

And no, a business does not exists to provide for the workers. It exists to make a profit. Period.
The exception being employee-owned and operated businesses. When the profits go to the worker-owners, cutting out the blood-sucking shareholder class, layoffs seldom happen and workers are well paid.

Again, the exception being employee-owned and operated. Winco is one of the best companies in the nation to work for...and they manage to not only have great bennies and high wages...but consistently have the lowest prices as well. Amazing what happens when you cut Wall Street out of the equation.

Wall Street Is a Paradise for Plutocratic Parasites

Despite the flunky histwhorians' claim that Capitalism produced a New Era, there was no essential change from unearned hereditary totalitarianism. The born-rich were the only ones who could afford to buy an originally independent enterprise. What's more, anyone who sold his business and his employees to them was a wannabe heiristocrat and would even buy a title giving him rank in the toxic ruling class.

Worst of all, he set his own sons up to be bossy Preppies. Despite what these entrepreneurs preach to the rest of us, that proves he regretted the personal damage he suffered by having to "do it on his own" and wanted to save his sons from going through that trauma. A self-made man is a self-destroyed man.

Yes, it is clear that Capitalism, as practiced on Wall Street, is the last vestige of Feudalism.
An amalgam of enlightened Capitalism and non-entitled Socialism seems to work best, IMO.
Truncating the traditional Capitalistic pyramid..lopping off the hereditary entitlements...allows the Capital to continue to be accessible to the people who are responsible for its existence--the workers~
