Donald Trump shoots himself in the other foot: Steel layoffs in US mount due to falling production

But tariffs have never done that. Just like they have never helped steel. See the OP.
Every nation in the world has tariffs and has had them since the Industrial Revolution

Most nations don't have trade policies originating from a crazy, orange-haired, man's gut.

Thats not a serious comment

Donald Trump is a joke. An object of international derision.
I think the anti trump swamp rats in washington are a national disgrace

They are sore losers and far more damaging to the nation than anything trump is accused of

Donald Trump owns the swamp. The swamp-rats are Trump supporters.

Trump sure killed the US soybean farmer. Brazil now has that market.
That wont last long

China has food shortages and world demand for soybeans is going up

Besides, someday china will screw Brazil just as it did US farmers

China bought land in Brazil and planted even MORE soybeans.

China didn't screw US Farmers. Donald Trump did that by starting a trade war with China. You keep blaming China for Donald Trump's fuckups.

In business, you approach someone you want to negotiate with, and ask to have a sit down with them to discuss areas where you would like to work on your trading relationships. You don't start by attacking their businesses, and yet this is exactly what Trump did, by starting trade wars with China, NAFTA, and the European Union, by putting tarriffs on goods imported from those countries.

A smart business man, focuses on doing one deal at a time, so that resources aren't spread too thin, and he can focus on the deal at hand. Trump slammed both the import markets and supply chains, and the export markets. The steel tariff helped created 40,000 American steel industry jobs, but it cost over 200,000 manufacturing jobs as companies shut operations due to the increased costs of steel.

A lot of the price increases that consumers are now facing, are as a result of the trade and tariff war started by Trump. Biden hasn't dealt with any of Trump's trade disruptions, what with the pandemic, the Afghanistan withdrawal, and trying to get the economic agenda passed.

China uses everything possible to get their own way. They are determined, and dishonest. The ends always justify the means.

Right now, they’re trying to convince you people that democracy doesn’t work. And the Republican Party in the United States of America is enthusiastically endorsing that notion.

Everything Donald Trump has touched since January 2017 has turned brown and smelly.

Donald Trump levied tariffs on steel to create more jobs in the steel industry. However, the steel industry has lost jobs and is closing steelworks.

On top of that, steel prices went up to other US manufacturers who are now paying more for steel which has contributed to the downturn in US industries that use steel.

The negative effects of Donald Trump's tariffs prove that tariffs do not create jobs, they just raise prices and reduce demand.

"Trump repeatedly promised he would revive the steel industry through trade war measures primarily aimed at imports from China and Europe. The expectation of the tariffs and the tariffs themselves sent stock prices up in anticipation of huge profits. However, the protectionist measures have had the opposite effect."

Let us pray that Donald Trump's damage to the US and world economy is only temporary and will recover after Donald Trump's impeachment and expungement.
