US Having Its Coolest Year On Record

Freewill -

I would just prefer these debates to stick to facts, science and reality wherever possible.

That means using real scientific sources, and in terms of temperatures it means that the global perspective is more important than the local angle.

At this stage I think almost everyone is aware that the climate IS changing, and that human acitivity is a factor in that. It's a given.

Hence threads that start with an entirely contrived "scientific" premise from some blog have very little value.

I provide the NOAA site which supports the contention in the OP.

Since you provided no data, other then what is in your mind, I question you statement.

Freewill........a person who really tries to present himself as a deep thinker.....is a climate change denier.

It does not compute.

You cannot be considered intelligent and aware if you deny that climate change is happening and that human activity impacts it.

This is no longer a debatable subject. What to do about it is....but the existence of a problem is decided.

Why isn't it debatable, because what we see is not what was predicted?

You have closed your mind, I have not. As proof of your closed mind you didn't bother looking at the NOAA site I provided. Had you bothered, and had the wherewithall to figure it out. You would have seen that indeed it indicates that global temperatures have apparently increased. But you don't bother because your mind is made up. You don't bother with fact, even when handed to you, because in your mind everything is settled.

That said, go back to the OP and quote me directly where I said anything concerning GW one way or the other.

BTW when can I expect my climate to change to tropical?

Oh.......you aren't denying climate change'? Silly me! Where did I ever get that idea?

If you wish to duplicate, time series is annual, contig. US. Average temperature, 2004 to 2014.

Note this is a -0.12 deg F/decade change.

Do you understand the difference between US data and global data?

Which would you say are more relevant in assessing climate change?

Also - are blogs as reliable as scientific organisations, would you say?

Did you read the OP subject line?

Where do you presume the most accurate temperature data is taken?

Did you even notice I made no statement on whether or not the climate was changing?

Being a child of the 60s and 70s I once was fooled by data that said this or that was GOING to effect me and the world and that never happened. So instead of listening to the same gloom and doom that never happens I look out the window and see another sunny day. I think a little warmer would be a good thing, why do you apparently think colder is a good thing?

Anyone who watches a day's worth of the Weather Channel understands temperature and climate change. Isn't advanced concept science. Your pathetic attempt at disputing climate change by putting foward how it's cold here therefore climat change isn't happening was woefully transparent.

You have displayed the perfect GW fear. I said nothing of the above yet you are quoting me. Wow.

BTW, you are deviating from the GW fear lingo trying to use the weather channel. WEATHER, I am told, is not an indicator of GW.

Just like when you start a fire in the fireplace, adjacent rooms get colder. If it's warmer somewhere in the world, adjacent areas get colder.

That is so untrue on so many levels. The rooms do not get colder because another room get warmer.

It's possible, depending how much heat is being sucked up the chimney.

I hope you were trying to be funny, if not you just doubled down on stupid.

Try reading my first comment on this thread - which includes a study establishing that September was globally the warmest on record.

The NOAA is a strong source - but your link is not to the NOAA, but to a blog quoting material from the NOAA. Not the same thing.

Everyone besides you is stupid and you are the only person who knows what you were trying to say in the OP.

You are just too deep for us. You are awesome.

We had a nice pleasant Summer 2014 in my area....

We did too, didn't really get hot as usual. But since I didn't take temperature readings this summer may have been just like all others or warmer or colder.

Actually no, I am pretty superficial about most of this stuff, skim it, post it, just to irritate you.

But crap if you say stupid stuff and don't mind insulting me one bit what the hell do you expect back?

I am not going back but as I remember it you posted a link to a story, not data. What I posted, after the OP, is a link directly to NOAA. Where you can look up the US and global temperatures. Then I provided THEIR data. So I did what you said you wanted.

Now, in so providing your the data you and those who support your view could have done two things. Attack me for not using data, which I did. Or went to the site and saw that it reports that in the last 10 years US average temperature has decreased. Which is the subject of the OP. You could have further looked at global land and sea measurements and saw that temperatures have increased. Too bad you all choose to attack.

What I used to do was try and plot temperature using excel. Man what a job that was. Then I discovered the NOAA site and their information so it made it much easier. But of course the come back I always get is that somehow I avoid data, not true, not true at all.

Here is the link I think you can find information to support your argument: Climate at a Glance National Climatic Data Center NCDC

One thing for certain, the dire predictions of runaway global warming after 2005 were wrong.

If GW means less hurricanes and tornadoes and a longer growing season then I say bring it on.

Climate change is world-wide, not just the US. If it's colder here, it's warmer somewhere else.

Hot weather proves global warming, as opposed to cold weather, which proves global warming. Average temperatures? That would prove global warming. Wet, dry, normal, humid, global warming, global warming, global warming, global warming.

Wait, the earth isn't warming. That's OK, we'll rename it "climate change." I mean climate never changed before global warming. I mean climate change.

At least you have an open mind and demand actual data. LOL.

Your brain is still in park. Sorry, Sheila, I want data. It's funny how you think you are intellectually honest, and you pay no price for global warming. It's a justification for everything you wanted anyway. Redistribution of wealth, weakening the United States and anti-capitalist government. You pay no price at all for your self proclaimed honesty over the matter. Quite the contrary, it justifies everything you already want.

Can skew numbers. Pictures of sinking islands is all the proof sane people need.

Refresh my memory, how did I "skew numbers?" Let's go to the video tape:

kaz: "I want data."

you: " Pictures of sinking islands is all the proof sane people need"

Seriously? That proves to you that there is "global" warming and man is responsible for it? That's all you need to implement massive redistribution of wealth and and massive controls on industry. I want actual data, which is "skewing numbers." You're a boob, my friend. Your mind is not in play, you see a chance to justify socialism and you're grabbing it. Just don't pretend that's intellectual integrity.
