Both Bush and Obama have starved our infrastructure funding. fact...To blame these areas means you're just without a solid idea of reality.

Conservatives have fond memories of the 2011 debt limit standoff where an emboldened Republican House majority leveraged the threat of default to force a dejected Obama into accepting more than $2 trillion in spending reductions, half of it through through the automatic cuts known as sequestration. But those days are long gone. Obama believes he made a huge mistake by letting the opposition party use the threat of disaster to set policy, and has since taken a hard line against debt limit negotiations in order to break that precedent.

"To my friends in Congress: Understand that how business is done in this town has to change," Obama said Thursday morning, chiding Republicans for repeated brinkmanship and the practice of "lurching from manufactured crisis to manufactured crisis."

He has called the GOP's bluff twice since then and watched them fold both times. In January 2013, before the country's borrowing authority was set to expire, House Republicans initially demanded cuts and reforms again in order to lift the ceiling. Obama made abundantly clear he wasn't about to give up anything merely to avert crisis. And Republicans caved, agreeing to extend the debt limit without policy add-ons. At the end of the day, even conservatives threw up their hands and praised Boehner for fighting the good fight.

We're now spending on infrastructure at the lowest percent since 1992

That said, infrastructure spending is in the news again, so here are a few ways to think about the topic. Joe Wiesenthal created this chart to show that U.S. public construction spending as a percentage of GDP has dropped to its lowest point in 20 years, after a big uptick before the recession:

Now, that's a chart of all public construction spending, from highways to water projects to public hospitals to schools. So what if we just look at highways and roads? We get this chart:

Where is all this debt coming from? So you stupid republicans are going to blame infrastructure, science and tech for our problems? Give me a fucking break.

DEBT PROBLEMS WILL ONLY BE FIXED BY A RECOVERY, WHICH BRAINWASHED tp debt cultists have wrecked AGAIN. 0.6 per cent cut in growth, 500k jobs dIsappeared for NOTHING...The deficit has gone down faster than in 50 years, and over half is UE and Welfare payments to Pub victims...

Not enough jobs have disappeared. More need to go. The deficit has gone down because of the sequester limited government reach, but the debt is now 17 TRILLION dollars. Weimar Republic here we come.

Japan has already stopped lending. If China stops too, it will put a big dent in democrat ability to spend up Daddy's credit cards.
