In Arizona, one city has one of the best VA hospital ratings and another the worst. McCain could have done more to help the VA given his background.VA incompetence and indifference for everyone!

DanielPalos, yes, unless basic universal medical insurance would be a free entitlement. If only co-payments were subject to a sliding means test, that would actually make more financial sense. However, to address your specific point; solving simple poverty directly benefits Individuals; families may still need means tested welfare.DanielPalos, ... I can conceive progressive rates of co-insurance payments which require some type of direct or indirect government intervention, (i.e. a government social program), to be of some net benefit.
I believe that the Affordable Care Act makes some medical screening items and treatments to be free of patience co-payments? That then begins to address the expense of co-payment problem?
Are you suggesting we otherwise in effect eliminate all insurance for those with less than median incomes? What are you explicitly suggesting? ...
Both terms, to promote and provide, are used in our federal Constitution regarding the general welfare.DanielPalos, yes, unless basic universal medical insurance would be a free entitlement. What we have now is of greater cost to our federal budgets and is less healthy for our nation.
Obamacare (which is also Romneycare), is free enterprise.agreed, if we were to switch to capitalism estimate is that prices would come down 80% and it would add 10-20 years to our life expectancies. What we have now is of greater cost to our federal budgets and is less healthy for our nation.

Oh wow. Where has this worked? What country could we copy?
?

Medical care is not a product that people can generally shop for as they would shop for a car or washing machine.
would cars and houses be less expensive too?USA Medical insurance would be less expensive if we had single (federal) payer basic medical insurance as an entitlement similar to Medicare.
Medicare was created because commercial entities didn't and I suppose couldn't properly service our elderly population.

where has this worked? Everywhere! Ever heard of China? They just switched to capitalism and everyone can afford everything as opposed to not affording anything and then starving to death. Do you understand?
Medical care is not a product that people can generally shop for as they would shop for a car or washing machine.
why not????? How odd that you are afraid to say. what did we learn from your fear?.
this country would be taking a big step towards big government to emulate China.
Oh hey, you never did say, have you ever had a pet which had his or her healthcare rationed by capitalism?
We would all be pets, with the government the owner choosing whether or not our health care is worth them paying for.Medical care is not a product that people can generally shop for as they would shop for a car or washing machine.

why are you talking about pets??? when we live in a world where 98% of the people don't get the very best care that is available in America. That being said, if we had capitalist healthcare prices would be down about 80% and most more could afford health care and most could afford the very best care. Moreover, with capitalist incentives 10-20 years would be added to our lifespans. How does the liberal like that for end of life care?
