Unemployment Numbers

Yeah, jump on that. Except the information, right here in the thread says otherwise. But again. Make up some facts, hurl them out there.

"A lot." But according to the information, it isn't. But whatever, right. Just make some facts up and hurl them out there.

I'm going by the facts...NJ reported 5,675 more claims than the previous week due to Sandy. Other East coast states, with the notable exception of New York (which will have a huge increase in claims in next week's report) also showed increases. You can't say the 2k fewer in NY off-sets the increases in many other east coast states. PA was affected by Sandy, though that's probaby not the biggest contributer.

Yes, construction, manufacturing and auto jobs are down in PA due to sandy. but thats probably not why they are down. Or maybe it is. Hey! We can just believe it hard enough...

Scared is a better characterization! And these insanely high numbers come before the storm of layoffs that have been announced. Remember the layoffs get announced and then it's a few weeks before they occur!

It was not unexpected. Last weeks new claims would include all the people who couldn't file the previous week due to Sandy and the people who lost their jobs due to Sandy.

Oh, and it was a false rumor that CA hadn't reported

Some of the new claims, especially in New Jersey, were due to Hurricane Sandy--but these were offset by a decline in claims filed in New York. The highest numbers of new filings came from Pennsylvania and Ohio, where there were thousands of layoffs in the construction, manufacturing, and automobile industries.
Both states had been targeted by the presidential campaigns. President Obama highlighted his record of job creation in Ohio in particular, focusing on the automobile industry. The state reported 6,450 new jobless claims in the week after the election--second-highest after Pennsylvania, which recorded 7,766 new claims.
Surprise! Jobless Claims Up 78,000 Week After Election; PA, OH Worst Hit
I didn't say it was all do to the storm, but a lot of it was.

Blaming it on Sandy, yet PA and OH were the worst hit! Didn't know they were on the east coast! Maybe you need a geography lesson!

Philadelphia is on the east coast, and the storm came in as far as Pittsburgh. And again, I never blamed it all on Sandy. Surely you're not trying to say there was no effect from Sandy?
