Even if you believe the propaganda coming out of Ukraine... Let's for a moment pretend the death tolls are factual...
How poorly has our public school system performed in regard to teaching human sacrifice for a given cause..?
The global population has nearly tripled since WWI...
Yet in Ukraine many are ringing the bells of victory for the purported deaths of 5-8 thousand dead Russian soldiers. LOL!!! Not every people has become so timid, and gutless as the cozy "tolerant" West. The killing we've seen so far; is chump change when viewed through the lens of human history. A drop in the bucket. It could be so much worse. And by percentage..? Today's modern Western stomach; couldn't stomach half of what a determined aggressor could bring
Pussies.
Keep in mind; these are just single battles. With a fraction of the population to participate. Nut up, or roll over. No one in living memory has seen the potential for carnage that exists.
Battle Location Dates Number of Casualties Kaiserschlacht (Kaiser's battle) March 21 ? July 18, 1918 1,539,715 Somme River, France July 1 ? Nov. 18, 1916 1,219,201 Verdun-sur-Meuse, France Feb. 21 ? Dec. 20, 1916 976,000 Battle of Passchendaele Passendale, Belgium July 31 ? Nov. 10, 1917 Marne River near Paris, France Sept. 5?12, 1914 483,000 Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey April 25, 1915 ? Jan. 9, 1916 473,000 Battle of Arras Arras, France April 9 ? May 16, 1917 278,000 Battle of the Argonne Forest Argonne Forest, France Sep. 26 ? Nov. 11, 1918 187,000 Battle of Tannenberg Near Allenstein, East Prussia Aug. 26?30, 1914 182,000 Ninth Battle of the Isonzo Soa valley, Slovenia Oct. 31 ? Nov. 4, 1916 138,000
And these are single battles. Not wars.
So... How hard are you personally willing to fight..?
~~~~~~
Indeed. Historically, World War I was devastating. It was the birth of modern warfare and the continued 19th century battle war tactics against trenches, barbed war and machine guns. Please note that the casualties you quoted were of soldiers sent across no man's land against the entrenched enemy behind rows of barbed wire firing machineguns.
Oddly, you did not mention World War II where not only soldiers were casualties but the war was brought to civilian populations in Europe, the Pacific and Asia.
This war in the Ukraine has become the 21st Century's modern warfare. It's no longer the soldier at the main line of resistance, but the families at home behind the lines suffering bombings and death.
