Almost any horror movie
Almost any western

As an adult:

The Scielnce/Discovery/History channel

As a side note I remember being Mesmerized by MSNBC & CNN when they started. It was sensory overload with all the information.

Anyhow I likely missed a lot of great shows that have slipped my mind but you know, getting older has a way of making things get foggier.

As a child and teen, I was busy living my life and didn't care for much tv....besides, we were poor and had just the one.....but as a young adult and product of cable, I grew to love more and more the following shows.....
All in the Family
The Mary Tyler Moore show
Dick Van Dyke show
I love Lucy
The Golden Girls
Will and Grace
Ellen
Leave it to Beaver and last but not least, the Andy Griffeth show

I love all movies made before 1959 TCM is my channel to watch

Not really, I was just bored....

I couldn't say any TV show ever kept me "captivated", but I used to enjoy Taxi and Northern Exposure. Just because they were both a bit warped.

Both had a wide range of characters. My favorite character on NE, bar none, was Marian, the stoic secretary to Dr. whatzisname -- Fleischman?
