The reason oil production started to go up in 2008 was because of advancements in hydraulic fracking. Obama actually limited their growth with regulations and kicked oil companies out of wildlife reserves. Trump has taken the EPA handcuffs off and unleashed the beast.

No, alternative energy is coal actually, and electric cars need over twice as much energy as gasoline or diesel cars because they have to lug a ton of batteries up hills and there is so much waste in electrical transmission, storage, retrieval, and conversion.
No one is doing a significant amount of electric cars.
And they cost over twice as much, and have very short range.
