We thought the Nazi threat was dead. But Donald Trump has revived it | Jonathan Freedland

The word from the White House is that the events at Charlottesville are behind them now, and they’re ready to move on. Sure, there is still some fallout from the 12 August march by neo-Nazis, white supremacists and the Ku Klux Klan, as well as from Donald Trump’s subsequent declaration that those racists and fascists who carried flaming torches and swastika flags included some “very fine people”. There are reverberations too from the president’s initial non-condemnation condemnation, in which if he saw “hatred, bigotry and violence” at all, he saw it “on many sides”.

Trump is trying to revive America, nazis and liberals not withstanding. Never before have so many clamored for their own destruction and had no idea they were doing it. I notice the same narrative: If we can't beat Trump and real Americans, we'll just keep calling nazi until it sticks and he grows a little black mustache.

Russia didn't stick

nazi doesn't stick either

how sick and desperate are the pathetic Left.

Vomit!

Another example of presidents being given too much credit. Trump has revived the threat of Nazis? He single-handedly broke a taboo that no one else had broken for 70 years?

There's a lot of exaggeration in there. And it's not necessary exaggeration; Trump says plenty of things for which he can rightfully be criticized.

This same sort of thing happened with Obama, and although it's been a long time, I'm pretty sure I remember it with Bush. I expect it's probably happened with nearly every president. People love to use presidents as scapegoats or treat them like idols.

And the thing about what your post states, I feel the most important thing of all, is the none of us really knows exactly what is going on. We only have the "media" to tell us what they want us to hear, shaped to form our opinions for us. The only way we can really know anything is to watch over a period of time and see what happens in different places. And then we will only have a small clue...

Obama was closer to being like Hitler than is Trump. In fact, the American left has more in common with the Nazis than American conservatives. Obama imposed more government control over our lives, as Hitler did to Germans. Trump is for reducing government control in order to provide for more freedoms for Americans, although I do disagree with Sessions wanting to go after marijuana. Obama, like Hitler, demanded more taxation of citizens. Trump wants Americans to be able to keep more of their own money. Basically, any American politician that says he wants to put the interests of the American people FIRST is branded a Nazi by the left.

The writing and exposition stands.

By pardoning Sheriff Joe, Trump just sent a dog whistle to every law enforcement head in America that they need not concern themselves about violating the constitutional civil rights of Americans by racial profiling. All will be forgiven.

As if being able to murder unarmed citizens in the street with impunity weren't enough.

As a shining example of liberal hysteria.

All you have is labels shoog, as Don would tweet, "sad".

Liberal officials throughout the country routinely violate the law with impunity. Hillary was caught, red-handed, breaking serious laws and she got a pass. Liberals protect foreign rapists from deportation in sanctuary cities. Liberals don't give a fuck about laws.

Yes, kudos, it is an american phenomenon. Only the truly gullible see it all on one side.
