Trey Gowdy for Speaker?

No coating to it...it is reality and looking at the win as a mandate or over stepping boundaries is a death sentence for the GOP...Boehner understands this.

It's a mandate against Obama and the party direction.

No, it is not. Sorry...If anything, it is an opportunity for the GOP to show they can lead and not obstruct. Failure will set TRUE conservatism back decades...possibly forever. Tea Party hate wasn't elected, nor was obstructionism and vitriol. If the case were a mandate against Obama...he wouldn't have one so handily in 2012.

What's mandate? The last mid-term?

36% of all RVs actually cast ballots last November. That was the most pathetic voter turnout since 1942.

The R's won 53% of the ballots cast, on the whole.

53% of 36% = 19.1%. So, 19.1% of all possible voters made a "mandate".

Riiiiiiiiight.......

Hell, he is arguably one of the worse Presidents EVER. Not much changed from 2012 until now.

GOP has the ball no doubt. More on the left did not show up and support their party........why?

Little research shows mid terms bounce around in the 40% range . 36% isn't that far out of norm.

The GOP now has control of both Houses of Congress, as of January 3rd. That is correct.
We still have a Democratic President with veto powers.

So.....

And a lot on the right didn't show u[p...The turnout was pretty low. America is simply fed up with the nonsense. Lowest rated Congress...lower than Obama...Yeah...a few more Republicans showed up because of Obama...but they showed up as moderates, not tea party.

Exactly...and the GOP will fail miserably if they try to pass nonsense bills that they know Obama will veto. The dems will capitalize on it. The GOP has to show they can lead. That means kicking the tea party to the side.

I never said TP drove the election. I said they support candidates who aren't foaming at the mouth radicals like you envision....LOL
Its your old school boys in GOP that haven't upgraded in the last 40 years. That is the problem with GOP.

False. 36% is definitely under the norm.

You are talking with the electoral statistics dude here in USMB. I am the one person you cannot bullshit about this stuff.

national-1789-present - United States Elections Project

Try again.

That being said, the people who don't get off their lazy ass and go vote have only themselves to blame if the result is not what they wanted.

Then you should know my claim about 40% give or take is average for mid terms......and 4 points to 36% ain't the end of the world.

upgraded to what, obstructionism and hate? The dems took advantage of teaper lunacy...that is why Barack is still President. Countless Benghazi hearings, manufactured controversies...it sort of deadened everything the GOP said. Now, the only issue worth pursuing, the IRS nonsense...is non-news. Its sorta like the boy who cried wolf.

4% is a major variance. It's also a travesty that the greatest nation on the face of the earth cannot even get 4 of 10 voters to actually go out and do their civic duty.

Germany has VT of about 80%. Likewise France.

36% is pathetic.

Stats is sort of a numbers Nazi. He does live up to his Germafied name.
