A country can always be trusted....
....to work in its own interests.
Machiavelli made things clear enough. 'Trust' really has nothing to do with it. If one nation wants peace with another, it is only necessary to show that peace is in their mutual interest.

That wasn't my point. Since WWII, Japan has been a model world citizen. Except for the tentacle porn, but other wise a model world citizen.

It is, however, a rich country, and more than capable of not only paying for it's own defense, but certainly keeping the peace in it's little corner of Asia.
