Time for the US to abolish the Death Penalty

I'm glad we were able to clarify that. Let me say that I accept your opinion, along with your other consistent opinions of being so adamantly against the death penalty. (I don't agree with them, but I accept them as your opinion.)
That said, doesn't the intentional killing of a NEWBORN HUMAN BEING upset you in the least?

Killing of what newborn Han being? Not quite sure what you are referring to.

My wife had 3 miscarriages after two successful pregnancies. We did not look at these as losing babies, but losing the opportunity to have a baby.

Typical leftist deflection. Why am I not surprised?

I simply asked you to explain yourself. Guess you could not do it.

I guess this conversation is still going in circles. You on the left want to abolish the death penalty so that some kidnapper/rapist/murderer can go free, yet you turn your heads in ignorance while an innocent baby who has just been born is murdered by a 'doctor' who shoves a pair of scissors into the base of it's brain.
That's only one of the many reasons we're frustrated by your so-called sense of 'decency'. Decency, my ass. You're all just a bunch of hypocrites.

Nobody is advocating letting Murderers go free nor are they advocating killing babies

Abortion has been the law of the land for 40 years and it isnt going to change. I have a better chance of passing a law to confiscate all guns. The best alternative is to do whatever is possible to reduce the need for an abortion.

Who murders newborn babies, and why do you think that we are for it? You are a deeply disturbed person, no wonder I had no idea what you were talking about.

I care, it sucks, but with two or more witnesses, overwhelimg physical evidence such as video or DNA you should tried, convicted and executed within the week. In other cases where the evidence is not so overwheliming, you should get ONE appeal, THAT YOU PAY FOR YOURSELF, then you should be executed within the month. Do innocent people get convicted sometimes? Yup. Does it suck? Yup. Do I think we should let 10,000 murdering scumbags live long happy lives because an innocent might get executed? Nope.

Would you be prepared to execute a person you knew was innocent?

Why would I want to exectute an innocent person? Or was that a rhetorical question? I know the question couldn't be based on my post because my post clearly stated, " but with two or more witnesses, overwhelimg physical evidence such as video or DNA you should tried, convicted and executed within the week". which woud preclude someone being "innocent" being executed.

Hypothetical:

If you had to execute someone you knew was innocent, could you do it, and still remain a supporter of the death penalty?
Could you execute an innocent person if it meant that 10 murderers would stay behind bars?

Most people would say no to both questions. You, I imagine, would happily flick the switch.

Shouldn't we be judged by the company we keep?

What the fuck is this "company we keep" bullshit.

Since when did the USA become part of a quilting bee?

We are part of a select group of nations that still execute prisoners. That group is down to China, Muslim nations, N Korea. Some quilting bee

No wonder we are viewed as barbaric

We are only viewed as barbaric by elitest, socialist pussies like the French. Who cares.

Even Mexico has abolished the death penalty
When a country like Mexico is able to look at us as barbarians, we are in big trouble

Even Russia has abolished the death penalty
Remember when we used to look down on them as savages?

Mexico doesn't need a death penalty. Those executed in mexico are executed right on the street and never get to trial.

Considering the brutality of the cartels who murder citizens on the streets, perhaps it would be wise of Mexico to rethink their position and do a little thinning of the criminal herd.

These cartels will kill each other in an instant.

Do you think they would fear the death penalty?

We've already covered this. The death penalty isn't a detterent. It's a punishment. It removes a bad seed from society and stops them from murdering othrer innocent people. Will putting a criminal to death make other criminals think twice? Doubtful. But it will stop the criminal executed from inflicting even more murder on innocent citizens. It's punishment. It's exterminating vermin.

You act as if the cartels are a finite quantity
As long as there is money to be made, there will be cartels

I agree, but feel there is a slight deterent value in that the criminal will no longer murder innocent victims. A guy in Texas nameed Kenneth McDuff killed a girl I grew up with who'd moved to Texas. He'd been sentenced to death, had his sentence changed to life in prison, then was released. After he was released, he killed my frind and 5 other people. He was executed in 1998 and has never murder anyone since.

Russia, like mexico, deals with the death penalty differently. In Russia it's an accidental death. Litvinenko got the death penalty, wink wink.

Texas executes more prisoners than Russia

Very telling

To them, that IS the death penalty. They know that any rival captured by the authorities will never get the death penalty so they administer it themselves, instantly.

mexican death penalty.

'Four trucks filled with bodies' after Reynosa firefight - The Monitor: Local News

REYNOSA — Fear and panic filled the streets of Reynosa on Sunday night as rival gunmen battled during a three-hour firefight that saw automatic weapons and grenades used. Surprisingly, Mexican authorities were absent for most of the melee.
The opening clashes were reported just before 9 p.m. Sunday, when rival factions of the Gulf Cartel consummated what appeared to be a yet another rift within the criminal organization.
During the protracted gunbattle, dozens of gunmen were killed, but authorities Monday would only confirm the deaths of two bystanders and the injury of a third.
A Tamaulipas law enforcement official, who asked to not be named citing security reasons, confirmed that the death toll was about three dozen, however the exact figures were not known because cartel gunmen picked up their own people’s bodies during the struggle.

Life in prison should mean just that. They should not be released.

Well you aren't a very humane liberal. Enlightened people know that someone on death row was mistreated as a child and did what they did out of response to that. Prison is for the purpose of rehabilitation so they can be reintegrated in society and contribute.
