Labor heads say Obama backs them on 'fiscal cliff'

Labor leaders say President Barack Obama remains committed to preserving tax cuts for middle class families and ensuring that the wealthiest Americans pay more in taxes.

Labor and progressive leaders say they plan to make a public campaign during the lame duck session to pressure Republicans to support higher taxes for the wealthy.

Okay? The unions say rich people need to pay more taxes. Got it?

That article is from today.

Watch this:

Unions Cut Special Deal on Health Taxes

Democratic negotiators acceded to union demands for a scaled-back tax on high-end health-insurance plans, exempting union contracts from the tax until 2018, five years beyond the start date for other workers.

Makes you want to puke, doesn't it?

.

Its amazing to me the level of power parties wield with the tax system.

Yep.

Employer-sponsored health insurance is one of many things that needs to go away, and not more deeply embedded as it was by ObamaCare.

As do all tax exemptions, credits, subsidies, etc. If the tax code can't have loopholes added to it, you can't bribe a Congressman to do it for you, and everyone pays their "fair share", and at a much lower rate.

I couldnt agree more.

The curruption of the tax system is at the root of our biggest problems. Parties wield control over the masses, and make back room deals with unions/lobbyists/corporations.

I really wish this issue got more attention, but instead we bicker about specific credits and who "deserves" higher rates.
