Then they came for us...

I like it when she puts something in quotation marks and then doesn't explain who said it.

I think it's either from some right wing propaganda site, or she's conjecturing on her own....

For instance... Why would Socialists come after Communists and Unions first? Sounds just like our own right wingers.

...the Nazis, the Fascists of Italy and the New Dealers of FDR had the same programs...and they were corporatists.

Ignorant idiocy and nonsense.

The Nazis and fascists in general were supported by right-wing and conservative entities prior to the War:

Various right-wing politicians and political parties in Europe welcomed the rise of fascism and the Nazis out of an intense aversion towards Communism. According to them, Hitler was the savior of Western civilization and of capitalism against Bolshevism. Among these supporters in the 1920s and early 1930s was the Conservative Party in Britain. During the later 1930s and 1940s, the Nazis were supported by the Falange movement in Spain, and by political and military figures who would form the government of Vichy France. A Legion of French Volunteers against Bolshevism (LVF) and other anti-Soviet fighting formations, were formed.

The British Conservative party and the right-wing parties in France appeased the Nazi regime in the mid- and late-1930s, even though they had begun to criticise its totalitarianism. Some contemporary commentators suggested that these parties did in fact still support the Nazis.

Nazi Ideology

Clearly the pseudo-socialism of the New Deal would be rejected by the Nazis.

You should learn to read more carefully before you embarrass yourself like this again!

From the post you quote:

In 1938, American ambassador Hugh R. Wilson reported to FDR his conversations with Hitler: “Hitler then said that he had watched with interest the methods which you, Mr. President, have been attempting to adopt for the United States…. I added that you were very much interested in certain phases of the sociological effort, notably for the youth and workmen, which is being made in Germany…” cited in “Franklin D. Roosevelt and Foreign Affairs,” vol.2, p. 27.

Perhaps you didn't realize that Hitler was a Nazi?

That's why I want to see the link.

Now, you know why you 'didn't see them'....

...because of how they would destroy your worldview.

Here, let me help:

Emergency Powers Statutes (Senate Report 93-549)
May 11, 1933, the Nazi newspaper Volkischer Beobachter, (People’s Observer): “Roosevelt’s Dictatorial Recovery Measures.”
January 17, 1934 Ibid
“Franklin D. Roosevelt and Foreign Affairs,” vol.2, p. 27.
“Fortune” magazine: ‘The Corporate state is to Mussolini what the New Deal is to Roosevelt.’(July 1934)

You might pick up a copy of:
Three New Deals: Reflections on Roosevelt's America, Mussolini's Italy, and Hitler's Germany, 1933-1939 [Paperback]
Wolfgang Schivelbusch (Author)

Then the three of you might look informed.
And wouldn't that be a new experience!

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for me
and there was no one left to speak out for me.

- Martin Niemöller

Who will speak for us when they come, I ask you?

Do you know what this means? Do you know it's history?

The National Socialist Party of Germany was looking to incorporate political factions under the Nazi party. They tried to incorporate the communists who said they weren't interested, they were communists. The Nazis silenced the communists and prohibited communist views from being expressed. The Nazis wanted the Trade Unionists to join the Nazis and they declined because they supported the unions and members. They were silenced. Jews were not permitted to express themselves at all. Each group in turn silenced by the Nazis with the approval and cooperation of the intellectuals of Germany at the time. Martin Niemoller's poem was an indictment of intellectuals for not opposing the Nazi's control of speech only permitting it's own propaganda. Eventually the Nazis came for the intellectuals. Martin Niemoller himself was sent to a concentration camp. By silencing all opposition, the Nazis were able to seize control of the entire nation.

If this strikes a chord, it would be recreating this history by democrats. Written today it might be

First they came for the republicans and I did not speak out because I was an independent.

Then they came for the talk show hosts and I didn't speak out because I didn't listen to talk radio.

Then they came for the Christians and I did not speak out because I was not a Christian.

Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out.

If you look at the the behavior of democrats, their efforts to silence everything but their own propaganda is exactly the same as the Nazis. Silence critics, silence opposition and only permit their own message.

How many of these threads will you start? Again the Defense act EXEMPTS American citizens. No one is coming for you unless you are a terrorist AND not a citizen.

If you think Christians are persecuted in the US, you have some more serious issues you need to work with when you see your psychologist.

Typical lib response. I didn't say persecuted. I said silenced.

When are they coming for the deadbeats and freeloaders?

wal-mart would be a good place to start. Most people who work for wal mart are forced on the social safety net because they refuse to pay a living wage.

So...when the job market improves, the folks who work there will move on?
Is that it?

How did Wal-Mart find workers prior to the recession?

Hypnotized?
shanghaied?
Calvinists who desire to be punished?
Just stupid?

Wal-Mart employs 1.6 million people worldwide and is the largest private employer.
Maybe it's a decent job with excellent prospects.
Perhaps you'd like to rethink your premise.
He's a believer in the 'once poor, always poor' caste system. So these people are forever condemned to work walmart for the rest of their lineage's existence.

Stupid caste system.

Oh wait.... it doesn't exist! My bad. He's just a fucktard.

Yeah... when they come with tanks and drones... good luck with the Remingtons.

Drone was just used on a North Dakota family by a Sheriff who had a hard on against them.

This was an issue of 6 cows. Get ready. Make ready. Aim small and miss small.

And you would seriously be amazed what you can do with mentos.

But it's good for America. The only bad thing about it is that the government forces them to pay minimum wage. They really should pay less. That would create even more profits for companies and their super wealthy owners to sit on. Honestly though, talking to many Republicans and Independents, I am starting to hear more and more who are beginning to realize that the wealthy are really not the job creators, and that wealth in itself does not lead to greater prosperity for everyone when too much of it sits in the hands of too few. The far right leaning "conservatives" are going to be in for a shock in the very near future. It may not be next year, but within the next ten years, being a right wing conservative is going to become very unpleasant.

"...wealth in itself does not lead to greater prosperity for everyone..."

Right, "7"- very true.

1. The huge majority of the 'wealthy' earned their money...unless their name was Kennedy.

2. The more you work, the more you earn.

In Alan Reynold’s “Income and Wealth,” he studied the data, and found the following. Certainly the top fifth of households has a far greater proportion of same, but it also has six times as many full-time workers as the bottom fifth, heavily composed of two-earner couples with older children or other relatives who work. The bottom fifth is heavily composed of aged or younger couples, the retired or the still in school. Also, some in the bottom fifth because they are part of the underground economy, or in crime, so income is not reported. Or suffer addictions which preclude work.

a. In 2004, 56.4% of households in the bottom fifth featured no work by anyone for the entire year.
HINC-05--Part 1

b.The total number of full time, year round workers in the bottom fifth for 2004 was less than 3 million…which compares to 16.4 million in the top fifth of households. Ibid.

The difference in income does not reflect inequality, but rather, productivity. The fact that the lowest fifth are neither starving, nor living in the streets reflects the intrinsic generosity of our society, and the transfer of incomes via government programs. 80% of income in the bottom fifth is from such transfers; it is only 2% for the top fifth.

c. Other pertinent factors include age and experience of head of household, educational differences, the rise of working women, which increased the number of two-earner families, increased in college educated workers, percent of immigrants in the workforce, which also give the impression of inequality.

But facts aren't going to convice you, are they? You'd rather shake your fist at the wealthy than accept the truth: most of 'em deserve their wealth.

That's called 'class warfare'...and it works on the less informed.

'Persecuted' may be excessive, but it is certainly true that attempts are made to slight and marginalize the religion moreso than any other...

...you'd agree with that, wouldn't you?
