"Memorial Day holds a significant place in the history of Black America, just like many other aspects of this country. While it is common for people across the United States to enjoy a long weekend or take a day off on Memorial Day, it is important to recognize that its origins can be traced back to the actions of Black American freedmen in Charleston, SC. Regardless of how many places claim it or attempt to alter its history, it was the black community that demonstrated kindness and initiated the traditions now celebrated by all. Memorial Day as originally known as Decoration Day. The day has a complex history intertwined with the experiences of African American soldiers.

One significant event often cited as a precursor to modern Memorial Day took place in Charleston, South Carolina. In 1865, at the close of the Civil War, a group of newly freed African Americans organized a commemoration for Union soldiers who had died while imprisoned in a Confederate camp. They cleaned up a burial ground, built a fence, and held a ceremony to honor the fallen soldiers, which included singing hymns, placing flowers, and delivering speeches. This event became known as the “First Decoration Day.” People like Ron DeSantis want to minimize knowledge of history and proclaim war on “wokeness.” (Mind you “stay woke” is a colloquialism hijacked and re-packaged for evil by folks like DeSantis."

So the woke-left continues and continues to try to rewrite the history of our country and co-opt uniquely Judeo-Christian and true American traditions and ruin them in the name of their woke agenda. Now they are claiming this photograph is supposed to be the early origins of Memorial Day in this country....this madness needs to stop. No way in the world would this country adopt some type of celebration started by a bunch of darkies and even if it was true, no way in the world would anyone alive to day believe it anyway...This is the problem with all of this woke nonsense, they are always trying to get us to look at the true origins of something instead of just leaving things alone and just celebrating things as they are....

Next they will try to claim that Labor Day actually started as some leftist Antifa strike against wealthy benevolent job creators that resulted in dozens of people being killed...are you kidding me? Labor Day is a celebration about the work ethic of God-fearing hardworking Americans who were allies of the wealthy elites, not some leftist Marxist Eugene Debs type; trying to cause problems, riots and strikes to wreck our economy...

No one has fought more than blacks to be Americans. They deserve it more than you and yet you treat them like second class citizens. Shame on you.

On June 26, the American Railroad Union, led by Eugene V. Debs, called for a boycott of all Pullman railway cars, crippling railroad traffic nationwide. To break the Pullman strike, the federal government dispatched troops to Chicago, unleashing a wave of riots that resulted in the deaths of more than a dozen workers.

A local teacher asked a student what Memorial day means to him.
"It`s the day that the swimming pools open" the kid said.

America has adopted Rock and Roll and many other things which started with African traditions. So has Brazil with Samba, Carnival, etc.

Do the research and find out whether it is true or not, instead of blatantly attacking something because you may be ignorant about it.

You are kind of late. It certainly did not ruin this year's Memorial Day. The president laid a wreath, gave a speech, the pool was warm enough for the grandkid, we remember and spoke of our fallen brethren (and glad we did not join them) in prayer before eat barbecue, drinking beer and playing corn hole.

One of the items that showed up on Memorial day was the idiot from Texas, Sheila Jackson Lee, who said that the AR-15 weighed as much as ten boxes for moving and shot .50 Cal bullets. The snakes always are willing to change their colors to make them appear like they care. Then they bite you, which she would love to take your AR-15s away....

This is one orgin, there were many similar events around the country during and after the Civil War.
Yes, the Dems hated it, they hated the GOP freed their slaves.

You have no use for any politician that doesn`t enjoy mass public random shootings. Shame on her and her pro-life nonsense.

I can't wait for the day when we finally achieve world piece and we celebrate that day every year. Right now when I think of Memorial Day I think of Saving Private Ryan and all those young men who died. So sad. For what? Why didn't we drop a bomb on Hitler? Why don't we drop a bomb on Putin? Why didn't someone drop one on Dick Chaney?

Yet she is willing to disarm the Legal US citizens so then they all can be victims of random shootings that happen in the Blue inner cities every weekend. Shame on her for not firing Merrick Garland who allows this shit to happen. You know break a few eggs..Never let a crisis go to waste...

Watch what you ask for, because the War Machine working with Biden, just might have a few come this way.

Well D-Day happened in 1944, and the first usable bombs weren't developed until a year later...so, we coudn't of used them to help Private Ryan...moreover Germany surrendered in May of 1945, about the time they were usable...so no need.

As far as Putin, you'll have to ask Xiden...things have certainly gotten worse for Europe since he took office, and now he is threatening to assassinate a US Senator....my guess is he won't because he doesn't want the Moscow Money line to the Xiden family to dry up.

As far as former VP Cheney? Well...not sure why would want to, I get why the demafascist want to I guess....

Aren't you a Trump supporter?

In the Feb. 13 debate in South Carolina, debate moderator John Dickerson asked Trump about an October 2008 interview in which Trump said it would have been a “wonderful thing” if Democratic Rep. Nancy Pelosi tried to impeach Bush because he lied about Iraq having weapons of mass destruction. Asked if he still believes that Bush should have been impeached, Trump called the Iraq war a “big fat mistake.” Pressed again for an answer, Trump went on to say, “They lied.”

Trump, Feb. 13: You call it whatever you want. I want to tell you. They lied. They said there were weapons of mass destruction; there were none. And they knew there were none. There were no weapons of mass destruction.
As for his 2008 comments, Trump said of Bush in an interview with CNN, “He lied. He got us into the war with lies.” Wolf Blitzer, host of CNN’s “The Situation Room,” pushed back, saying Bush administration officials argue that the intelligence they received was wrong — not that they lied. “I don’t believe that,” Trump responded.

Here is Trump’s exchange with Blitzer, who asked Trump to “grade” public officials:

Blitzer, Oct. 15, 2008: Nancy Pelosi, the speaker?
Trump: Well, you know, when she first got in and was named speaker, I met her. And I’m very impressed by her. I think she’s a very impressive person. I like her a lot. But I was surprised that she didn’t do more in terms of Bush and going after Bush. It was almost — it just seemed like she was going to really look to impeach Bush and get him out of office, which, personally, I think would have been a wonderful thing.
Blitzer: Impeaching him?
Trump: Absolutely, for the war, for the war.
Blitzer: Because of the conduct of the war.
Trump: Well, he lied. He got us into the war with lies. And, I mean, look at the trouble Bill Clinton got into with something that was totally unimportant. And they tried to impeach him, which was nonsense. And, yet, Bush got us into this horrible war with lies, by lying, by saying they had weapons of mass destruction, by saying all sorts of things that turned out not to be true.
(CROSSTALK)
Blitzer: Their argument is, they weren’t lying, that that was the intelligence that he was presented, and it was not as if he was just lying about it.
Trump: I don’t believe that.
Blitzer: You believe that it was a deliberate lie?
Trump: I don’t believe it. And I don’t think you believe it either, Wolf. You are a very, very intelligent young man. I don’t think you believe it either.
